First time posting, new to the Z world. I have been looking for some performance/summer tires for my stock '04 350z.

My interest was in Hankook's Ventus V12 Evo2. Unfortunately, they don't make the rear size 235/50R17.

I don't really feel like having two different brand tires, but if it ends up being like that, what would you guys recommend that is similar to the Evo2?

 

I have them on my Evo X and they are not nearly as sticky as I'd like them to be. Prior I had Nitto Invos and Advan A13s which performed well and handled corners. The Hankook v12 tires are comfortable for daily but that's about all they have been.

 

Ventus V12 have been "accused" of having too soft of a sidewall and for any type of performance work, this is key. Especially if you're not plus sizing your wheels.

Go to tirerack.com and plug in your car (or go by the mix of tire sizes) and look at the selection. I just did and was amazed to find only a couple of tires I'd use for true summer performance use on 17s. Fortunately, one of my favorite of all time tires is the one Max Perf tire offered, the Sumitomo HTRZ3.

I have used this tire on numerous set of wheels on my 33. I was quite pleasantly surprised when I thought I'd try a "budget friendly" Max Perf tire and turned out I loved it even when compared to my old Michelins, Bridgestones and Kumhos. Really good turn-in response (my hot button), excellent overall grip at limit, and very good feedback - something I can't say about too many other tires in its price class.

EDIT: Don't recommend you mix brands or types of tires if you have the choice of a full, new set. (You can wing it with diff tires if replacing a pair only but you won't get max performance out of any mixed set as you're creating two different sets of dynamics F-R.)

 

Thanks guys, i checked out the site and i think I'm going to try out some Yokohama S Drive. My buddy has em on his Pontiac GTO and he recommends em' from this list.

I've read on another post that the Continental Extreme Contact DFWs are great, specially based on road noise. That is the one I will go for when changing mine.
