tire width 275 or 285?
Do they make a 285/35/19 tire? And if so why is everyone going with the 275? Is 285 too much rubber for the stock Z? Thanks Jim

275/35/19 is the recommended size to go along with 9.5" wheels and 245/35/19s up front. It maintains the correct stagger and improves the handling of the car. 285/35/19s are made by many tire manufacturers, and will work just fine. They are slightly wider and taller. However, they do fall into the range of a tire that will work fine on the "Z" or "G". People who want the largest of everything will choose this size.
275/35s however, are optimal on the proper 19" wheel.

What about 19x9.5+22 front and 19x10.5+22 rear ?
The 275/35 appears 'stretched' to me on a 10.5" rim. Is the 285/35 a better fit for the rears with 10.5" rim.
Any rubbing issues ?
What would be the proper tire size for the fronts ?
If 275 is the "right" size for a 9.5" rim, would you run this on the fronts, or go to a 255/35 ?

I have 285 on my 19x9.5 and I love it. The 275 seem a bit stretched to me. Also doesn't offer enough lip protection. The 285's give a slight protection, and still handles perfect to me.

I like the look of "Full" and not "streched" also.

I have 9.5 front and 10.5 rears on the way soon...
Don't want the stretched look, front or rear.
Any recommendations ?
How wide can you go in the front if running 9.5" rims ?

I have to agree with the 285's on 10.5" wheels. I just got the Racing Harts CP-F Tuned with 10.5 in the back and 275 GS-D3's. When I ordered them, I figured that they wouldn't have the 'stretched' look because 275mm / 25.4 = 10.8" I wasn't a math major but something doesn't add up.
I don't think 285's will get rid of all of the stretched look but it would help some.

295 is better for 10.5 275 is meant for 9.5" rims. yeah the width doesnt add up like that, dont ask me why not. itll go down as just one of those things, just like the screwy tire sizing method they use. why is sidewall a percentage of width? WHO KNOWS!!!
I was told hankook was a korean made tire and pretty much bottom of the barrel, they are dirt cheap about half the price of other tires the same size. Id stay away from them personally, could end up costing you a whole lot more when they lose traction.

I'm not a tire " know it all " but after reading your thread it made me think. Correct me if I'm wrong but the 285 is a measurement of the tire tread which is considerably wider than the actual bead that seals onto the wheel. Therefore the method al503 used to determine the right size tire for his 10.5 wheel will not work.
I am also in the process of choosing the best offset and wheel configeration and would like to go with 255/30/19F 285/30/19R. I don't like the stretched look what so ever and also don't want too much tire extending past my fenders. What would be an offset on GT-C's that would give me this match? I was thinking of going 8.5F and 9.5R.

285 is a measure from sidewall to sidewall. They measure that at the widest distance of the tire. A size 285 by different manufacturers may have many different tread widths depending on the tire manufacturer.

What wheel widths did you go with? I don't like the stretched look is why I'm asking.
