Default Offset

I am a bit bewildered as to offset. I have read many forums where memebers are concerned or recomending that certain offsets may or may not fit over the Brembo brakes. I am looking at purchasing a set of wheels for my G35. (which has brembo)

I understand offset as the difference from the hub mounting plate on the wheel to the centerline of the wheel (middle.) A factory offset of 30mm is then 30mm (1.18inches) outward of the centerline, so the inside of wheel is positioned inward 30mm from center, leaving a rear spacing of 5.18 inches (1.18+8/2) from the wheel hub to the inside of the tire.

So monkeying with offset will adjust how far wheels are tucked in or alternatively stick out from the fenderwall, but should all clear the brakes in near any case, just how much of the brakes does the rear spacing cover. I was going to go have a look under the car, but its too cold outside.

I am considering 19*8.5 +20mm (215-235) and 19*9.5 +18mm(275) AXIS Milano (if such offsets exist) which would place the wheels 0.6 inches and 1.2 inches out further than factory.

Wheat do you think?

Default Requirements of offset

The brake calipers. The reason a low offset is required is because of the very large brake calipers that stick out nearly 2 inces from the mounting plate / lug bolts. (at least on the infiniti anyway.) Aparently an offset of +20 with modified 5 * 120 bmw wheels is the only way Milano's work.
