havabooz,
I'm not sure on the size, but the guys at discount tire will know. They told me BMW has the same size. I would find it hard to belive that tightening the bolts a certain way would alow not to use the rings. In fact, I would bet my life that it wouldn't solve the problem. It's too hard to get the wheel centered this way and that's why you need the rings. Discount tire told me I could go without the rings, but when you realize how muc play the wheel has when it's on(without tightening the bolts) you will want the rings. Discount tire should have the rings. They have rings, just gotta get the right size. They are very easy to get in and out, so if they have any you could test fit them.

Good luck,
Matt

The color is black plastic. If I had to guess the size I would say 70.4. Just a guess. They are very easy to get in and out. The tire installer will probally put them in for you since they are mounting your wheels.

You can definitely tighten the wheels so you don't NEED the rings. I know, I've done it multiple times and autoX'd without problems. It is a very standard way of mounting wheels. It is a pain in the butt, though.

Therefore, there is no reason NOT to get the rings. You should be able to get them for free from the place you bought your wheels from, or for a very small cost from another tire place.

Discount tire treated me very well when I bought my wheels there, so they should be able to get what you need. You may just try stopping by one of their stores and talking to someone. Just tell them that you have a 350Z with such and such wheels and they may be able to pull them off the shelf for you (or worst case they can order them - which is what they did for me).

My conversation went like this:
D'oh! - "Hi, I have a 350Z with Enkei RPO2-J that I picked up last week, and when I was installing the wheels I found that I need the hub ring thingies to keep the wheel centered on the hub. I can run the wheels without them, but it's a PITA to change the wheels out wihtout those rings."

Discount Tire Dude - "Yeah, it sure is. We'll get them on order and let you know when they arrive."

D'oh! - "Cool, Thanks!"

DTD - "No prob."

A couple days later they called and I picked up the rings. It's as simple as that.

Your wheel will still not be centered properly. I don't doubt you did what you said you did. The fact is, if you could just use your method, why even make hub centric rings?

havabooz, I just saw this thread. When I took my car to have my rims installed they also told me I needed hubcentric rings.

I told them that I thought the iForged's didn't need them since this is what I had read about them but when they showed me the wobble I told them to go ahead and install them.

The one's I got were a black plastic ring. I've had them on for 8 months with no problems. Good thing this wheel shop I went to knew what they were doing as they specialize in installing aftermarket rims.

The bottom line is I needed them so you will too since you have the same wheels I have.

Default Sometimes pictures help...

Here are a couple of pictures of how the rings fit in the rim. FWIW, I put a set of rims on my Audi last week without them and felt quite a bit of vibration in the steering. I had rings put on yesterday and the vibration went away.

havabooz,
I checked my rings and the are 73.0. So you will need a 70.3 to a 66.06 ring. Don't be worried about instaling them. It is very very easy. Besides, who ever mounts your tires will put the hub rings on for you.

Good luck,
Matt

Sounds like more iForged BS! My wheels came with the rings in the boxes. I just assumed that since they were in the box that I should use them. No problems mounting/centering up the wheel on hub with them.

Just got my hubcentric rings put on and I must say it drives much smoother. I got my rings at Shoreline Motoring in Huntington Beach, ca. Very nice people.

I checked the wheel bore diameter on my iForged FS Aeros, they are 73mm.

But you mentioned the hub ring of 73mm(OD)/66.06mm(ID) does not fit? Have you measured your wheel bore size?

Darn! Looks like I will need hub rings too.

Matt, Do you mean ring size should be 73.0mm to 66.06mm?

Yes. I just missed typed. I'm guessing all iforged wheels have the same size hub opening.

i got 73 to 66.06...problem was that the rings werent fitting properly in the iforged wheels...i might be doing something wrong but i doubt it..its possible that they sent me the wrong rings but i doubt that cause it came with a card that said "73mm 66.06mm"

ill have to see what the deal is

they are almost fitting...i thought they would just drop right in..but then when i thought about it it made sense that they would have to be slightly forced in...ill let the tire guy decide

Wheel Bore size 73mm
Vehicle Hub size 66.06

the next lowest size is a 70mm ring to a 66.06 (the vehicle hub size always remains the same)...

i wonder if 70mm is corrct...ill have to wait and see..

meanwhile i didnt even get the wheel back 5 weeks and counting..this is bull5**** already
