Weight of stock wheels
Anyone know the weight of the stock 17 and 18" wheels? When buying new wheels for the car how important is weight? A friend told me the weight of the wheels is more important because the car has to turn this as well as pull it.
I came across this page, which has a lot of useful info on the stock Z wheels:

I hear that the stock G wheels are only about 2 lbs lighter than the stock 18 Z wheels, which are like 27 lbs (!) each.
Hope this helps!

weighed the 18" rims at 26lbs each on a bathroom scale. so around there. tires were 27lbs each.
and your friend is right. rims are considered unsprung weight. basicly meaning anything that spins, this include the rim, tire, and rotor. if your familiar with physics, recall rotational inertia. its quite difficult to make something spin. rims are the best place to lose weight, they say 10lbs of unsprung weight is like 100lbs of body weight. they also say 10lbs of unsprung weight lost can decrease your quarter mile by .1sec. of course these are estimates, but you can see how important this is.
