Default Tire Blow Out (Potenza RE 040) W' pics

I was driving for about 15 minutes on my way to work when my tire blew. Actually it didn't so much blow as it did self destruct. I drove about 1/4 mile between the time I felt something was wrong and I was on the side of the road.

Here is an image of the tire:

Here's a link to a more indepth description of the blow out along with more images:

Does this look like something I could get covered with warrenty to you?

looks like you had a flat, didn't realize it and drove on it, causing the sidewall to rip. I don't think warranty will cover it.

yeah, I think 2003Z is right.

with a low profile tire if its flat for even the shortest distance it can and will be destroyed. just like that.

There was a thread about this something like a year ago and IIRC, the conclusion was flat tire. If you would have had a model other than base that has the tire pressure sensor system, this probably could have been avoided.

Good thing you didn't crash man, that looks pretty bad. On a related subject, I picked up my Z last night and both rears had 44psi in them!! I hope they aren't damaged somehow.

Yeah, I talked with a couple people and they agree it was flat. I found a nail in it. So that just goes to show you. Check your tires before you get in the car!!

boostle, 44 is ok, thats the max cold for the tires. I run 40 in mine for longer life and a crisper feel.

My cousin drove on some 35 series 19s for almost 40 minutes before he noticed the tire was flat when he went around a turn and had a slight oversteer. When you are basically wrapping just rubber around a wheel, it is hard to tell when it is flat!!!
