What the point of having big wheels if they hurt performance? I'm married so I don't care about picking up girls (if girls have a worm feeling for a 19 wheels, which I'm not sure)
As far as I'm concerned 18s and especially 19s are
1) heavier rims.
2) heavier tires (at least toyo).
3) more expensive rims
4) more expensive tires
5) easy to bend
As for advantages... Hmmm, I see none. So what the point? I never understood why people put 19s on their sprot cars? I don't take my car to stupid car shows. I can't see my wheels when driving. Not that I find big wheels pretty.
BTW, Formula-1 do just fine with 13".

I agree on all your technical points regarding 17 vs 19. The only thing going for 19's is looks (assuming tire widths are the same) are looks. I have 19's, but I kept my 17's for track days. I will loathe the day I curb my rim or run over a rim-eating pot hole.
Your rims look great. From what I've read, they are extremely light, and well suited for the track. You should be able to feel a bit better acceleration over your stock rims, especially if you had the cast 18" rims.
As for your offset, if you want to pull your wheel out a bit further, you can use spacers. I've never used them, but I've seen a couple threads on them. You'll probably need to replace your bolts to longer ones if you go that route, but I don't think it's very expensive.

humm...if you are concerd about 18s or 19s slowing you down...i think you may as well ditch the auto tranny too...

I'm looking at picking up a set of 18's direct from japan (avail. up to 19" over there)
But I'd like to correct you on your comment about the 18" tires, especially Toyo being heavier.
If you go to toyo's website, you'll see that in fact the T1S' are actually a pound to a pound a half lighter in the 18" version of an 8.5 and 9.5 fitment versus the 17" version.

For now I'm trying just NOT TO ADD any more weight. Actually shaving 37lbs is making car 1.15% lighter! And than, it's rotating mass...

And I forgot to add that I need stock 17s to stay in BS class in autocross.
