With 22,500 miles it is getting to be about time to replace my tires. I've got serious feathering issues but they didn't become noticable until like 18k miles--I'll probably take up the dealer on his realignment, but I'm sure the problem will persist...anyway that issue is for another thread. I've got some beginner tire questions:

1. How do you decipher tire descriptions, i.e what exactly does 245/45ZR18 mean?

2. What brand do you guys recommend? I know Pirelli makes Rossas that fit the Z but no one here seems to get them. Toyo? Yokahama? Bridgestone? Michelin? I do not track my Z (as much as I'd like to), and I live where it snows...any recs?

3. Are there any tires (hard/soft compound) that are more/less resistant to feathering?

4. And lastly, anyone have pics ofthe gold Nismo rims on a DB Z?

I would look some of this stuff up myself, but the search seems to be busted. Any/all input is appreciated.

i have goodyear f1 gs-d3. i saw the link The Brickyard Rat posted. it handles very well and has very good tread wearing. some other brands handles better in dry track but i have to care about wet track and tread wearing for reality.
also it has very mean tread pattern which i love.
it looks good on Z and handles well. check that website. worth it.
