235/45/18 and 255/45/18 Tire sizes?
I did try the search and it's still down so I am gonna ask this question and hope I don't get flamed.
I am thinking about putting the 235/45 on front and the 255/45 on the back of my performance 6mt. I know that the tires are slightly taller by .3 on diameter, but that would equate to just a touch taller than 1/4 of an inch total diameter, which would be just over an 1/8th in. on the top and bottom of the tire mounted on the car. Do you think that will have too big of a sidewall and what effects, negative or positive, will it have with the VDC?(i.e. Will it still maintain the proper stagger between the front and rear?)
I was originally planning on replacing them with the 245/40/18 on front and 275/40/18 on rear but I would like to keep from putting the 275 on the stock 8in. wide rear rim.
TIA, Tony

you will be better off putting 245/40-18 front and 255/40-18 rear.... I've been using this set up for about a year... it looks good and works flawlessly.
I had 255/45-18 rear and the back end of the car looked like I had truck tires on it.... way too tall. Even made the car slower due to the slight change in gearing.
Also... plenty of tires available in those sizes.
Hope that helps,
PeteH

Obviously, someone already has done the math but before you buy, check the specs at Tirerack.com. I believe the 40's in the larger tread width more closely match the original diameter. This will eliminate problems with VDC.
