Default All-Season Tires

Anyone have all season tires that they recommend? Where I live it snows occasionally in the winter and I don't want to buy seperate snow tires for the winter. I think I'm going with 18" nismos so it limits my possibilities a bit. I was looking at the Continental Extreme Contact in 275/40/18 and 245/40/18. Anyone have those or others they can chime in on?

i will have those extremecontact tires put on tomorrow...can't wait (my rear tires are bald)...also don't know if feathering will be alleviated...some people say yes, others no. I guess i'll find out soon enough.

my tire size: f - 235/40/18 r - 255/40/18 i dunno about the width being wide enough (8") for the rear (many people say i need an 8.5"), but a person at tirerack (not Luke or Mario) said it would be ok...and also, one person actually put on 275/35 on the rear so i think 255 will work.

I've had the 275/40/18 Pirelli PZero Nero Mud+Snow on back for about 1000 miles. They do well in the rain, we'll see how they are in light snow. In the dry they have better traction than the OEM 245/45/18 Pilots--at least I can't spin the tires as easily.

Have you looked at the Kumho Ecsta ASX? I have seen good specs on these tires but I don't know much about Kumho quality.

I presently have kuhmo ASX tires ( 8K) they are the quietest tire I have ever bought and handling is very good for the first 5K now they seem to be getting a bit softer. Sears sells them and they have a 35-40K warranty, very good in rain but squeal around turns as they do not hold the pavement like the stock tires do.

I previously used sumitomo htr+ for the past two years in the snow. 45K warranty, excellent price at sears and they are excellent in winter. Not as good as blizzak tires but they handle much better.

after all the research I have done to avoid swapping tires, I like the ASX tires much better better because they are dead quiet on the highways.

I think I'd buy an old car to get me around in the snow, however I've got the Michelin Sports A/S on mine & they are excellent! Haven't had them in any snow & probably won't but wet or drive, they are tough!

I've had my A/S on since last Summer, and they do real well in snow. I only had the OEM tires on that first Winter, and they were stupid scary. The A/S are night&day better, but they're not snow tires, and do still require judicious handling. Also, going wider than stock, while it's great for handling generally, is not an advantage in the snow.... If it snowed more than it usually does here in VA, I'd mount Blizzaks on the old wheels and PS2s on the Volks, but so far the A/S are working out fine.

just change my rear from pilot sport A/S to Kuhmo ASX ,will have to wait till winter to see the diff but its definitely quieter than A/S with same 400+ tread wear and half the cost of A/S. Only thing I didnt like about A/S was there is not much of center traction so the center worn out faster than the outside.
