For those of you running 245/35/19s on your 19 inch fronts... do you find that there isn't enough sidewall?
I did a search and generally speaking, most people are saying that the ride quality is the same, or only slightly worse, than stock
but having just ordered the Axis Hiros (a CAST rim), I'm concerned that a 245/35/19 isn't enough rubber to protect it from the roads here in Toronto.. if I had a forged rim, I wouldn't be so worried, but a cast rim has me concerned
Any thoughts?

relax you got nothing to worry about-i felt the same way like you about 245/35r19 size tires .but thanks To gabriel, over at www.wheelstudio.com
he made a appointment for me over at axis wheels which is located in Santa Fe Springs,Ca.To allow me to test drive there nismo z which was fitted with this tire size and i thought it felt very acceptable.i never thought i would have had the chance to test fit this package but gabriel made this possible.he tells me to tell everyone at this forum thanks for all of our support.we will not be forgotten...

You really need to take into consideration the roads you will be doing most of your driving on. If they absolutely suck, I probably would have gone with an 18s. Since you already purchased your 19s, you may as well make them look proper and get the 35 series tires. If you feel you want a little more cushion, get a 255/35 up front if your rim will accomodate it. Its not much larger than a 245, but it will help.
Good luck!

you have nothing to worry about...I rock that size and around my way there is always some kind of construction going on, I haven't had any problems...just wrap some T1-s around them

so there's no concern of my cast rim getting bent from the small rubber? I understand that ride quality is fine, but my biggest concern is damage to my rims... i was thinking of running a 245/40/19 actually since 255/35/19 only adds 2-3 mm's of sidewall, where the 245/40/19 adds about 10 (granted this will cause my ride height to go up, but it's worth it if it prevents damage)
dubby - what kind of rims are you running?

If you run 245/40 front and 275/35 rear, you are basically doing the same thing all these people are doing who are running 245/35 front and 275/30 rear - except you are increasing sidewall instead of decreasing it - that's what I'm planning on running... and you will not have any VDC issues whatsoever...

If you want to run 245/40 in front, then I recommend 285/35 in the rear.
Put couple more pounds of air in your tires. It might help you from bending the wheels.

wait i'm confused... won't running more air in my tires result in a firmer tire and make my wheels even more prone to damage?
I always thought running less air would make the tire softer and therefore protect the wheel better

looks great...
i think it obvious that I need to avoid potholes... but what if i can't avoid them?? today on the way to work I drove over a patch of bad pavement, it wasn't there last week when I drove that route... I probably went through 10 potholes, about 2 inches deep and 4 inches across... i was driving on my winters still (215-60-16) and I had no problems... ride was comfortable too for that matter haha... driving on those balloons
but would a 245/35/19 survive something like that?? potholes I can't foresee?

dont think you can worry so much about that !!! used to get dent all the time with my 17" jus depends on luck I guess ..if you hit a deep enough pot hole going at a certain speed dont think it would matter how big ur tires are ? if your in Cali dont drive after a rain storm

just get the 35s and keep your eyes in front of the car stop looking at the babes rolling by and stop talking on the celly...keep your eyes on the pot holes coming up and go around them
