Default stupid tire question..

i can get all 4 Dunlop SP Sport 8000™ Ultra High-Performance Radial tires for free from my friend...
Rears are 275/35/18
and the fronts are 245/45/18

can i run 45 in the fronts and 35 in the rear ? any consequences ?

you can... but that's not the best tire size for your car... what would be optimal is 245/40-18 front and 275/40-18 rear... and that's guessing that you have a wide enough rear wheel for the 275 to fit on...

I personally wouldn't do it because the sizes are not recommended sizes. (http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html)

Also, in addition to what others have said, according to the "FAQ" thread posted by DiscountTireDirect up on top,

"NO LESS THAN 1/2 INCH AND NO MORE THAN 3/4 OF AN INCH HEIGHT DIFFERANCE BETWEEN FRONT AND REAR TIRE SIZE FOR ABS BRAKE SYSTEM/TRACTION CONTROL"

Front: 26.7 inch
Rear: 25.6 inch

As you can see, the height diff will exceed the requirement. I suppose if you don't care about the ABS and Traction control, I'd say go for them. They are free!

is it unsafe to run 275 in the rear on stock touring 18 wheels ?

I just called the guys from tires.com , and they said its OK to run 275/35/18 in the rear ... can anyone confirm that ?

is anyone running 245/45/18 in the front ??
they said I may experience some rubbing and advised me to go with 245/40/18...

275 is too wide for 8" width wheel. They will buldge out but you can still put them on. But the recommended wheel width for 275 is at least 8.5".

I had 275/40/18 in the rear for a very short period of time. See my thread below.
