I think the stock Touring rims are only 8" wide. Only the rear Track model rims are 8.5". (As far as I know.) I would guess a 265mm tire would be way too wide for an 8" or even 8.5" rim. Be sure to check the tire specs on the tire manufacturer's website. They'll have the acceptable range of rim widths listed in those specs.

I just bought a set of Volk SF Challenges 18 x 9 front and 18 x 10 in the rear. What would be the optimal tire sizes for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and look for pictures of my setup soon!

Thanks for the help jreiter. The recommended size that many different shops gave me (mackin, discounttire, yokohama, toyo, falken) is 245/40/18 front and 275/35/18 rear. This goes against what the forum guys are recommending, so I don't know who to believe. This setup will equate in a 2mm taller front than the rear, but everyone says it is optimal. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know the stock 17 rim offset that are on the enthusiast model? I want to get 18s but I am absolutely clueless on this topic and need some advice from you guys. There's a whole bunch of places that advertise 18 tire and rim packages but there's numerous variations, most of them come with 215s or 225s tire all around but i know that is not wide enough. I know the stock wheels and tires on the Z is 225/50/17 (17x7) in the front, 235/50/17 (17x8) in the rear. But then, the offset comes in to play where i have no idea how to calculate, so i figure if i know the stock offset i'll just have find a match. Bolt pattern is 5x114.3 if i am correct. For sure i'll be gettin 18s. I figure adding an inch in width for both the front and rear should do. If i want to get 18x8 in the front and 18x9 in the rear, what size of tires would fit? It seems like the consensus is 245/40/18 for the front, and 265/40/18 for the rear. Would those fit? Thanks in advance for the input.

Some Volks rims, for example, often come in 8.5 (22ET) front and 9.5 (22ET) rear. In my opinion those offsets push the rims out beyond the fender too much and look sort of weird. Personal choice, I suppose.
Remember, the smaller the offset the further out towards the fender the rim sits. The bigger the offset, the further into the wheel well the rim sits. So something tiny like a 0 offset would result in rims that sat *way* out past the fender and would look stupid.

I only hear about people staggering!? What are thoughts about doing same front to rear. SCC did a test and pulled 1g w/ 18x9.5(or x9, I forget) all around, as well as w/ a few other slight mods. Aside from Warranty issues and VDC, which I don't have on my Enthusiast, is there a problem w/ this?

I'm seriously considering doing the 9.5" wide Nismo rims all the way around with 275 tires on all 4 corners. I already have the normal Nismo set, so I'd only need to get another pair of the 9.5" rims. I just keep being too lazy to get out there and try out the fitment. (Jack up the car and mount the rear rim on the front to see how it fits and check clearance on the suspension uprights.)

On a 10.5 inch rim 295/35/19 will rub like hell- I already had this problem. One solution is to roll the fenders, which at worst could result in paint cracking and you would have to repaint the quarter panel. Easiest solution is to just stick with the 275/35/19

A 255/40/18 and 275/40/18 combo is the closest to stock diameters. (Almost perfect.) That's going to be my next size combo when I replace my tires.

There are people who certainly go beyond the recommended sizes and don't seem to have problems, but I can't comment on that. I personally wouldn't want to go outside the manufacturer's recommendations.

The stock 245/45/18 tire has an outer diameter of 26.68". A 255/40/18 has an outer diameter of 26.03". That's a significant difference in diameter.
The stock 225/45/18 tire has an outer diameter of 25.97", while a 245/40/18 has an outer diameter of 25.7". Not a huge difference, but notable.
As you can see, a 245/40/18-255/40/18 combo doesn't even come close to the stock stagger. The 245 is shorter than stock, and the 255 is *much* shorter than stock. However, if you just disable VDC then it won't complain at all.
If you want to remain as close to the stock diameters as possible, then a 255/40/18-275/40/18 combo is the closest in diameter to the stock sizes. Almost perfect. This is what I'll be going with next.

1st issue:
Nissan wants between .5 to .75" stagger front to rear, rear being taller of course.
2nd issue:
you WILL anger vdc, trac, abs
3rd issue:
The dealer doesnt need much reason to try and void your warranty. Ignoring their stagger rule is one thing, doing a rear tire thats shorter is even worse.
4th issue:
It looks wrong. a 275-30-19 rear is 1.2" shorter in overall diameter than your stock rear tire. Why would you do this?
For most 19" 350 applications you should have a 245-35-19 & 275-35-19 or 285-35-19 rear tire. Anyone who tells you otherwise is mistaken. the 35 series rear may be a bit harder for them to find, or maybe they were told the wrong information. Either way, it is the incorrect setup...and a lot of you on the board have had this mistake happen to you.
Maybe it will cause and issue. Maybe it wont. I sure wouldnt want to find out while going 60 on the highway in the rain in CA when a wrec happens around you and your abs decides to freak out. Just my .02.
Take a look at the calculations below.
this one is stock size rear vs a 275-30-19 rear
this is the 245-35 & 275-30-19 incorrect combo
and here is the correct 245-35 & 275-35 combo
Most commonly 18" upgrades should be
245-40-18 with a 275-40-18 rear
and in 19" it should be
245-35-19 with 275 or 285-35-19 rear.

According to that calculator if I took my stock tires on my Touring and swapped them out for
F: 255-18-40s R: 275-18-40s
my front to rear overall diameter difference would be .29...compared to the stock .28.
That's gnarly and should keep the VDC more than happy.
