Default biting the bullet... ordering tires today

Well, nobody in the vendor wanted secion would give me a quote, so I'm just gonna order some tires from treaddepot.com (best price ive found yet). I am ordering Toyo T1-S and will be keeping the stock performance rims. My question is this;

I am ordering 245/40/18 for the front. What should I run in the rear? I know some members have stretched a 275/40/18 on the rear and had no problems. Would this work with the toyo or should I downsize to 265/40 or 255/45? Also, if any vendors read this and want to give me a quote shipped to 35486 on your recommended sizes, please do as I'm ordering this evening. Thanks.

Talk to Z1 Performance. I bought TOYO T1's from him.

If you are getting 245/40/18 in the front the correct combo for your TCS to work would be 275/40/18. But the size also varies depending on the width of your wheel. What kind of wheels are you running?

I'm running the stock performance rims. As for treaddepot, I found that edgeracing.com is about $75 cheaper... $782 shipped for 245/40/18 and 275/40/18... not bad at all.

Anyway, back to the questions... will 275/40 be really bad for the stock rims? I plan on buying some aftermarket rims not too far down the road so I'd switch the tires over then...

On stock wheels, eh. I did that once and don't really recommend it. See my thread here.

OK, I read your thread there but still don't see why you wouldn't recommend it. You had nothing but praise for the setup until somone told you it was too wide for the rims (without noting any proof or cases). In short, it seems you loved it until someone else didn't...

Yes, you are correct in that I loved the looks of them at first. They look so much more aggressive. But you may not notice in the pix but they bulged out to the side.

After someone mentioned it, I did my own research and found out that 275 was too wide for 8" width rim. I went back to America Tire who had originally sold me the tires. And they did agree with me that 275's were too wide or 8" width rim and replaced them with 245's.

Once again, it's just not a recommended tire size. The descision is yours.
