Well, since you've chosen to show off your car, I guess you're prepared to deal with the various responses you might get.

Personally, I think it's a joke. Disgusting, SUV pimp wheels and a grotesque body kit that ruins the beautiful, clean lines of a sports car that doesn't deserve such treatment. Just my opinion.....if you love it, that's all that matters.

Having said that, how come we never see such abuse on Porsches, Ferraris, etc.?? Regardless if it's an affordably priced Japanese car, does that mean it should still be given the rice treament even though its styling is far above it's price class? To me, it's like dressing up Carmen Electra in spiked heels, chains, and ***** makeup. Appealing to some, I guess, but I'd much rather have her natural beauty fresh out of the shower, without war paint and unnecessary add-ons that do nothing but distract from the original, pure, sensual form.......whoa.......am I still talking about cars?

So what part of "Just my opinion" didn't you understand?

If someone serves up a big, juicy, fastball down the middle, they'd better expect that somebody may just take a swing at it. What I said was not a personal attack on anyone....merely my thoughts on modifying aspects of the Z that don't need such mutilation.

Once, again....now pay attention to this part, Zeroday....this is only my opinion and doesn't need to mean a rats a$$ to anyone else. Telling me to STFU on a such a forum is about as intellgent as, well....you figure it out.

For the record, I have no problem with modifying aspects of the Z that need it: performance, for example. Anything that truly improves the car is fine with me. Perhaps I just have a higher opinion of the Z's styling than those who choose to add body kits....and I've yet to see one that improves on the original design and doesn't take it down the road populated by so many lesser priced, lesser designed cars that are nothing more than docking stations for lots of plastic add-ons. I think it's an insult to the inherent greatness of the car, but people can do what they wanna do, and that's fine with me. I'm just glad such cars aren't mine.

right you're only interested in peformance mods...you do have 19" GTC's right?? last i checked 19's are for show. look i just thought what you said was rude thats all. you are certainly entitled to your opinion but there is really no need to voice it so rudely.

i also fail to see how telling you to STFU is an idicator of intelligence but again, you're entitled to your opinions...rude as they are...you are entitled.

UHHH.....read my sig......it clearly says LE37's......what was that you said about intelligence??

LE37's weigh about five pounds less than GTC's, and about nine pounds less than stock touring rims....and only about 1.5 lbs more than my original track rims. When I finally add the FI system (either Greddy or Vortech, whichever is carb certified first), the minimal loss of performance from 19" wheels and tires won't mean $hit. And if 19's are just for show, maybe you should check out some newer models of Porsche, Ferrari, etc.

I never said I'm ONLY interested in performance mods....I think upgrading to the right wheels can add impact to the overall design.....not destroy it as some body kits do. I would love to see a body kit that improves the design of the Z......I just haven't seen one. Once again, just for you, MY OPINION.

So telling me to STFU isn't rude? I guess anyone who's answer to an honest opinion is "STFU" says it all.

you have 19" volks and that was my point. model is immaterial. the majority of the weight of the rim is not as close to the center of the rims as 18's/17's/16's and that means less performance. oh but i guess i should have assumed you were going FI

btw...stfu

Performance mods
If I list what I have for performance mods alone it would take half this page but I been too busy to do that and I keep buying more crap every day... so when I'm done I'll list my mods.
My list looks crazy like blownaways list of mods and ask him if we play around. It all depends how deep your pockets are.
Porshes...Ferraris.... which are owned by older guys that spent enough on the car as is and not into what we are ..such as putting volk rims, bodykits and other mods on the car.
Pimp wheels Did you not read the name of the thread, this was just for fun. I had 19"5zigens hyper zrs on the car and changing to Jlines.... pimp wheels these are not.
Grotesque body kit that ruins the beautiful, clean lines of a sports car that doesn't deserve such treatment... Tell me how this bodykit ruined this cars look...its just a lip kit and wing. It still looks like a z to everyone that see it.

Nice choice of wheels you're going to go with.
Hey Rayden, send me an email brian@bulletproofautomotive.com because for some reason, I can't seem to send back a PM to you. It keeps giving me the error page and I lose everything I write.

If you think I'm going to be impressed by some long list of mods, you're sadly mistaken. It doesn't matter how much you spend on your car or how many mods you're planning. Money obviously can't buy taste....or an eye for artistic design, it seems.

Enjoy your car...I enjoy it as well, but for a different reason

I'm not trying to "impress" you so the fact that you are not, is fine by me.

I just feel that if you are going to slam other people's cars then you should be prepared to defend yourself. What you have compared to me is light-weight and you should have known before you began typing that the insults would not be taken lightly here.

And before you try to defend yourself and your statements against the slamming ("I said it was just my opinion.")...you are slamming, not just voicing your opinion, if you were you would simply say you're not feeling it, instead of bludgening an opinion with boorish insults. Now in case you need a compare and contrast of your boorish insults to a courteous criticism see my provided example:
Courteous="I love the original styling of the z, your mods are awesome, but for me nothing beats the original." As you can see this "opinion" states the love of the original design as well purveying the "opinion" that the mods are not your choice.
Boorish insult="Personally, I think it's a joke. Disgusting, SUV pimp wheels and a grotesque body kit that ruins the beautiful, clean lines of a sports car that doesn't deserve such treatment." Now as you can see here the words "joke," "disgusting," and "grotesque" are all completely uncalled for and insolent.

Now please rejoin us for this discussion once you have decided to use a little more class in your contructive criticism.
Peace

LOL....how about this:

Next time, why don't you post list of possible negative and positive responses and ask members to choose only from that list. That way, you won't be surprised by the use of any words that offend you, and you can keep the content within your designated area of accepted adjectives and adverbs.

By the way...."I'm not feelin"" your understanding of the word "class." Even though your "mods are awesome," they seem to lack the properties of the word in question.

So you do understand the concept of class, this response was much more intelligent than your original abusive statements. Bravo!

I used the "I'm not feelin'" quote because this forum is for relaxed communication, so the slang terms are very acceptable, since you want to be collegiate now I will rephrase: "I do not find your vehicle to be appealing to my stylistic tastes in automobile structure." There, happy now...dude!

You are taking this discussion completely out of context now. Reread your first statement in this thread and explain to me how that statement has anything constructive in it, it is nothing but insults, not opinions...insults! I will appreciate anyone's opinion when it is constructive, courteous, and non-obtrusive. Since your opinion had none of these qualities I have chosen to dismiss it and deem it repugnant.

By the way, I wasn't offended by any of the adjectives or adverbs you used. Personally I found it humorous. I was merely using my thread to show (or perhaps teach) you what the proper respectful ethics that should be used when you are communicating with fellow Z enthusiast are. We should be like a second family to each other and be supportive or at least constructive to each other, not abusive.

I respect anyone who has made the choice to own Z. None of my remarks are meant to insult or hurt anyone. However, how you feel about any of my opinions about your car is irrelevant to me. I doubt you would have expended so much energy if you found them humorous, but I hope you did. I find the car humorous as well. I stand by them regardless of whether or not you approve of my choice of words. When I feel strongly about something, I don't mince words.....try not be so thin skinned. I don't know you... and I wasn't attacking you personally....only the image of a car that I find as offensive as you find my criticism. As I said, if you love the car, great. Don't worry about what I think or say, or how I say it....I certainly don't where it concerns you.

Perhaps my commments should have been less directed at an individual and more generally pointed towards the aftermarket suppliers, whose lack of design skill and taste has quickly pushed many modded Z's into the ranks of cheap, ricey Hondas and Subarus. Flood the market with a bunch of poorly styled body kits and no doubt there will people standing in line who find the need to change the looks of their car just to be different, regardless of whether or not these changes are aesthetically pleasing to most.

Look at what Ruf has done for modified Porsches. Subtle tweaks in form, height and proportions that add up to more a powerful and aggressive visage than the original design offered. Not all their designs work well, but most of them do. I would love to have such products for the Z.....but look what we've got instead: a myriad of giant wings, overdone skirts and ridculous noses that add up to a Godzilla-like reworking of a clean, powerful form....all fins and scales, most of which look like they're stuck on with Superglue and duct tape. Most of these Z's look like they're ready to do battle with Mothra. Many body kit designers have chosen to be more outrageous than the next guy, and they keep upping the ante and lowering the image. The Z is sports car with world class potential, and I hate to see it's stature obliterated by mod crazy owners forced to choose from the (mostly) crap that's available.

Perhaps I just have more respect for the original design than you do. If you can't improve on something, why change it just to change it? There are many things in this world that I'll never understand, I guess. The success of Ellen Degeneres for one. How the hell did she get to be such a big star...she sucks...but I digress.
