Default Am I reading these tire size right?

Can you put different sized tires on the stock Enthu 17inch rims? Basically instead of the 225/50's and 235/50's. Tirerack has some other decent tires just not in the exact sizes recommended for those wheels. I really dislike being limited so far to RE40's or the over priced Sports from them. So any ideas?

So could I for instance run 225/45/17's on the front, and 235/45/17's on the rear?

Yes but you will increase you wheel well to tire gap and look worse I think.

If you are going to go to 45 profile might as well go with wider tires and still keep the gap the same but get wider tire, like 245/45 and 255/45 don't know if they make tires in those sizes but they would be close to original dimensions other than width.

You can run those specs. A couple of things:

1. Your overall diameter is going to be less, your speedo is gonna have a tracking error. It's less than a 1% error (taken from 350zmotoring.com Wheel and Tire garage section)

2. Your car is going to be lower due to shorter sidewall/diameter

3. Your handling will be a bit different. I believe tighter response, less sidewall flex?

Good luck! And I hope someone can sound off on what I said. I'm definitely not an expert.

Bah screwit, I might as well buy new 18's or 19's. Seems the tire choices are better for those sizes anyway.

Yeah get bigger wheels, those stock 17's gotta go.

Bigger wheels compliment the Z so much better.
