Default Got my "Volk GT7's" fixed..after Carwash Incident

I never thought it could happen to me but it did...One day I got lazy and took my Z to the CarWash and they ruined it...They used some chemicals that ate up the 2 left front and rear wheels on my new 19" Volk GT7's....After all the back and forth arguements they decided to pay only about $450.00 dollars....Just to let you know that we will always be on the losing end no matter how you look at it...go to court, you win but you still pay lawyer fees...Anyway, if you live around the Los Angeles area, San Fernando Valley to be specific....I found this place called "SAN FERNANDO BRAKE AND TIRES" they repolished all 4 of my rims, not chrome for $480.00....They look better than before....I am pretty happy with them...Just ask for TOM and tell him that Clyde sent you...his phone number is (818) 837-7704..This guy is super cool, he'll take care of you.......Let me know if you want some pics of thejob...Take care...

If you go to small claims court, you don't need a lawyer. It's just like "peoples court" on tv. Perhaps you might have received some more $$.

Personally I think you're crazy for taking your Z to a carwash. Let that be a lesson to all of us! Glad to hear the volks are looking better than new...

I thought Volks were expensive because they had some type of special clear coat to protect against that kind of stuff.

I had the same thing happen to me with my Gunmetal GT-7s down here in San Diego. The Costa Verde carwash made some stains on my rims, and agreed to refinish them. They actually had them polished, and then reanodized, since thats what the wheel polisher said was the top coat on the lip. The wheels came out with an extremely dull finish on the polished lip. Probably because they anodized them, instead of clearcoating them, since they looked almost perfect before they were anodized, but after they were finished being polished.

After some comparisons with a brand new GT-7, I convinced the car wash manager to buy me a brand new set. It looks like they merely repolished your rims, but didn't apply either a clear coat, or reanodized them. That should be ok, but you should know that your rims aren't exactly the way they were before you brought them to the car wash.

The same thing happened to me at my dealer. They repolished the wheels, but didn't clear coat them. They swore up and down that they where NOT clear coated cause there was no way that the cleaner would have eaten them like that. I didn't know any better at the time so I said go ahead and repolish them. That looked great for all of a week, and now my wheels have all sorts of scratches and pits in them. Oh well, I like to throw money away.

This is the best that I have.

I'll wash it tomorrow and get a better pic of the wheel. This happened about a year ago, so it doesn't look anywhere as good as it was right after they polished it. Now that I look back on it, i should have bitched a bit more, but I guess I'll take this as a lesson learned.

DrCold...you're making me cry... One reason I don't trust carwashes. They always use soap and chemicals of some sort...

I clean my baby with WATER and only water. I would even go as far as the MR. CLEAN setup, but here downtown Chicago there seems to be little calcium My baby glows when I'm done shamming and waxing her!!

I'm even switching out my wheels seasonally to prevent salt corrosion.
