Question Need help with rim width.

I'm ordering Racing Hart J8s soon 19". I'm getting a lot of mixed advice on what width they should be.

19x8.5/19x9.5
19x9/19x10
19x9.5/19x10.5

I have a 2003 Base Z. It is my daily driver plus weekend racer. I understand that with a wider rim, its more for looks and will decrease speed somewhat. Still, I want my rims to look good.

What does everybody suggest or personal preference? Thx.

Hmmm, the best of both worlds...

For track you probably want the same rubber front and back. For looks you might want the staggered setup. Check this link out. It's not a bad look and they pulled 1g.

I"m going for pure looks since mine is a daily driver and will always be... 245/295_35_19. I may go 255/295 when they wear out. That day will come...

well 19s typically mean you're going for looks... even a superlight weight 19 is going to yield lower performance than an 18 rim of equal weight (due to rotational mass)

so really, you can't go wrong w/ any of those widths

my preference for those rims would be 9.5f and 10.5r (if they make it)

imo the 9.5/10.5 is too thick for me
i'd go with the 8.5/9.5

but either will work. just depends on what you like

from past experience, wishing I did different, I would go with the widest rim that will fit the most narrow tire you will ever use. its much better to go wide now than regret it later. If a 275 will fit on a 10.5,, get them for the rear, if a 255 will fit on a 9.5 get them or a 9 if thats the size.

Thanks everybody. Should I include road conditions into consideration. I'm in Boston and roads here are typically pretty bad.

I'm thinking of going with Volk GT-C's in 9.5/10.5 w/ 255/35 and 275/35 Toyos... that is the setup I would recommend (or 9/10 w/ same tire sizes)

I have the J8's: The offset in the front are 26 on (19x9) & on the rear 19 (19x10), Toyo T1S (245-35-19 & 275-35-19) No problems at all...love this setup.

Been checking a couple of resources and people seem to say that 19x9.5 is too big for the front. So I might go with 19x9 and 19x10.5.

275s all around... 9" front 10" rear.

Handles beautifully. (Once the Toyo's broke in!)

Ordered yesterday 19x9/19x10.5. After long deliberation i believe this to be the optimum setup.

I will post when i receive everything. Along with the rims i've also got JIC camber kit and tein coilovers. I should get everthing this week or next. I still have to order tires.

I've done a lot of research and i believe we've chosen the best setup.

Zlex, I hate boston roads. I would never get 19"s especially since I though once or twice I bent the hell out of my rim with 18"s...
