Default New Tires vs. Bald Tires

Agree or Disagree? Bald tires have a better contact patch than Treaded Tires at the track. Will running on bald stock 350z tires get me a better time than running on new stock 350z tires?

To my understanding bald tires are useless in any scenario.

A bald street tire may in some aspects "look" like a slick but it is far from being the same.

The treaded part of a street tire is made from a different compound that sticks directly to the belts. I recall someone showing me a cut away of how tires are made in layers.

On a racing tire the tire may be flat, but its the softer and sticker compound being used with out grooves (all rubber and no gaps) that give you grip. A bald street tire has no rubber left and is pretty much like a new set of tires top layer which has to be burned off (takes a few kms to do) to get down to the good part of the tire.

Now I could be wrong in how I am explaining this but I know that a street tire with full tread will always be stickier than a bald street tire.

no a bald tire will not give you better times at the track. it will make your times worse. regular tires don't work like slicks when they are bald. they just suck. my tires are bald and it sucks driving around on them. thank god they'll finally be changed next week.

Because the rubber gets harder as you wear the tread off, by
8-10,000 miles tires are much harder than brand new. Vulcanization contiues from heat.

stock new tires will handle worse than SHAVED new tires. Bald tires are typically old and worn and the rubber is 'tired' and not as grippy - ever notice how old tires develop cracks as they get brittle?
