Default What tires? Money is no object.

Okay right now in the running. Khumo MX, Toyo T1S, Cooper Zeon something or other and Nittos.

Now the Nittos and Coopers were suggested by two different places trying to sell me tires. I haven't heard much about either so I assume they are either good but pricey, or utter crap that these people get for cheap. Anyhow I am looking to run 265/35/18 front and 295/35/18 rear on 18x9 and 18x10.5 wheels.

Please help me out guys. I have only had Toyo's out of what I have been recommended and I don't trust any one doing reviews other than you guys, because all the reviews have company bias.

BFG KDW2's come in that size. Prices aren't bad either. I bought the Kumhos in that size because money was an object.

Try Yokohama AVS sport, it grips like NOTHING else in the dry, but pretty bad in the wet. Also Yokohama A048! The Best Motoring guys always use the Yokohama Advan Neova series.

I second the pilot sports. They come in the 295/265/35 combo too. I've got the T1S in 295/265 and they are pretty decent once broken in.

I've got Nitto 555's right now and I don't like them on the road; they're loud, ride like crap, and don't have too much grip (in all cases compared to the stock RE40's). The R2 version is awesome on the track though.

For the street, I'd get the Michelin Pilot Sports (grip) or Toyo T-1S (ride).

Yokohama A048 is one of the best tires. It is such a big hit in Japan. Yokohama Neova is mostly for drifting if you are into it.

May I suggest Michellin Pilot PS2??
Not sure if they have the size but heard it is way better than GS-D3, pilot sport and S03 is EVERY ASPECT.

I have the PS2 in 285/30/20 and they have the worst wet traction I have even seen they are worse than the stock RE40's

The A048s are R-compounds that were originally designed for Porsche Cup racers, and last time I checked only came in a 265/285 sizes. TONS of grip, but they won't last more than 5000 miles. That's the tradeoff you get for using R-compounds though.

Hm.......... really?? I just know that people in HK and Japan use them for everyday driving but not sure how long they actually last. And Asia's weather is very different from here. Always in the 20 degrees temperature and lot less rain.

But n e ways, they really have TONS of grip. Never heard someone complain about the A048s yet.

Of course they have tons of grip, they're an R-compound ("R" = race). Info on the A048s

Your comment is hard to believe.

The TireRack customer survey shows the Michelin PS2 having the 2nd best wet traction and hydro resistance.

just a correction, the 265/285 size is avalible only for N.america.
if you order it through japan, it has a very wide range of selection.

i'll have to argue with neova is mostly for drifting. Neova is a street tire that's closest to a r-compound in advan's line up.

but ya, PS2 is good stuff!!

Mine must be no good but they don't grip at all. pulling out in traffic on damp pavment is almost scary. I'm not even talking about when its raining hard and there lots of water on the road I mean an hour or 2 after a storm
