Hello people,
I had this done a few months ago and thought I would post the results. I am really happy with the results.

The total for everything was around $400. Not bad for track wheels.

The process took like 3 weeks. First, the wheels were stripped and then bead blasted. The casting of the wheels is a "rough" casting and is difficult to polish. Our track wheels are painted, so the casting is not seen. This is good, however, in that it helps the powdercoating to adhere better. Anyway, after the wheels were stripped, I took them to another shop that only polishes wheels and had the lip polished. This took a couple of days, but the work was excellent. My lip is actually better polished than the Alcoa's on my dad's truck. Because of all the contaminants (polishing compound, hand and fingerprints, etc) the wheels had to be bathed in gasoline and then scrubbed by hand. If the wheels are not properly cleaned before powdercoating, bubbles will rise from the oils when the wheels are heated up and ruin the finish. Afterwards, the wheels were then hand detailed to remove any stray particles. The line is very clean because the wheels have a natural line built into them. Anyway, after the wheels were detailed, they were done. I'll clean a wheel and show how nice they really are.

the contrast in the lip and spokes completely changes the look of the wheel.
ive always thought it would cool to polish the lips of the tracks. but i didnt know how the "line" could be pulled off
i think a black /polished combo would be really awesome
please post some more pics of the line close up

I wish I had gone with the black metallic, but oh well. These will be my track wheels while I roll around town on 19's. I had the lip polished so that when I have tires changed, there is no chance of chipping the powdercoating. Powdercoating is the strongest finish, but an amateur with a tire iron is devistating.

very nice!
hard to find a place that can polish the lip!
now if you could find a place to diamond cut the lip that would be even hotter!
(lips on the NISMO and LE37's are Diamond Cut)

what is that finish thats on the G35 coupe wheel and now the 35th anniversary Z wheel. its not quite chrome i think its paint
kinda of a graphite chrome color

I dunno about the center caps. Like I said, these will be my track wheels, so that doesn't really matter to me. I didn't put the stock ones back on because they are silver. Maybe I could paint them or something. They are plastic, so powdercoating them was not an option (a little puddle on the floor with Nissan in the middle).
Hmmm, me likey. I am having mine done this winter, prob all powder coated though.
I was quoted $45 a wheel to get them powdercoated, they have 11 different shades of Black and gray. Decisions decisions
Its a local co., so I save on shipping charges.

That looks really nice! I bought a set of Track wheels to get powdercoated the same color, or just a little lighter. I wasn't planning on doing the lip, but I was curious what the spokes would look like in that color. Nice work!
