Depends on trim and condition of the car.

I bought my 04 350Z roadster (convertible) with 99K miles in January for $8500 out the door. Not too far from you either. I bought it in Durham NC. Also already had nice wheels with good tires, full Nismo exhaust, touring edition with Nav and leather, clean Carfax. I did look around for about a year though. I put a couple thousand into it after my Nismo rep front bumper, rear spoiler, stereo and new suspension and its just what I wanted.

KBB is your friend. Make sure you get on it when you test drive one. It can handle it

I scoured the national CL for about a month and a half. After looking at two I drove out 3 hours to Indianapolis for mine. Met the guy at Andy Mohr Nissan, immediately got it inspected, test drove it and drove it home.

2004 56,250 for $9,000. Pretty good deal imo, talked him down quite a bit. Car has no major issues.

Keep searching read the hundreds of forums posts chocked full of information on this topic. Become a master of the models/years and their pros/cons. 03-04 have notchy transmissions with soft brass synchro's notorious for grinding in 3rd but all gears are affected. I believe the 04.5-05 are solid because they get the CD009 trans and keep the VQ35DE. The 05.5-06 get the Rev-up motors notorious for burning oil. 07-08 are the grails of the Z world but are known to have bad Slave cylinders. It's a matter of picking your poison and finding the best deal with the least amount of trade-offs.

Also going off Venture make sure you really get on it in ALL of the gears and shift into each at above 3-4k if possible. I have to double clutch into fifth and sixth above 3,500 to keep the synchros quiet. If you were in a test drive as the passenger I would be able to do it without you knowing.

I got mine as a gift from my wife who said I needed to be less lame. No inspection, no test drive, no regrets, it was a great gift.

No such thing as a free wife. Money, pound of flesh or both.
