General Oil Consumption Question
Hi Everyone,
I am looking into getting a 2003 350z and was wanting to get your input on the oil consumption issue that everyone seems to be talking about (apologies if this has been talked about several times before).
Are certain model years more prone to have this issue than others? How does the 2003 stack up? What does everyone do to remedy this issue?
I also heard that the dipstick is not much help either due to its shape making it hard to get a proper oil level reading. Is there a fix for this? I saw a Youtube video where a guy uses sandpaper to scratch up the dipstick a little so that it is easier to read. Has anyone done this and if so, has it worked out for them?
Thanks In Advance.

What CK_32 said. Revup Engine Zs are the oil burners (2005.5 - 2006 VQ35DEs). Regarding the oil dip stick, I've never heard of sanding it. Getting a reading isn't all that bad so long as you are on a level surface. Having the dipstick on the driver's side in the USA means road crown can tend to cause inaccurate readings. Otherwise the only tricky bit with the dip stick is re-installing it! The port for it is in a hard to see/reach spot where dirt/grit can build up!

There's a way to get a better read on oil levels in the VQ:
