Hey guys, I have an 04 convertable and when I put the top down, the deck lid or cover or whatever it's called, wont lock down in place. i have to get out.... push om the corners RIGHT behind the doors so the cover lid will lock and the warning indicator light will go off... Can anyone PLEASE give me the easy low cost good news on this situation and any other info regarding this. Thanks in advance...

No idea how old your top is, but since I replaced mine last Oct if it's cooler (Under 70) I have to hit open/close several times to get the top to compact down enough to close. No idea if it's because of the newness or the cold or a combo of both. If you're trying to put it down and the temps are like here (90 miles south east of you if you're in Memphis by profile) the cold could be the factor. Hopefully that's all it is. Not a expert by any means as I just bought mine last July. Hope it's just the cold and nothing mechanical for you..
*edit*
I will mention on the 'cold' part, it was 75ish to 80 a couple days in the past 2 weeks, top opened/locked like a charm right off, next day was 66 in the morning when I went to goto work and had to up/down 4 or 5 times to get fully down why I say it might be the cold for you also...

Excellent point tblunt. Yes I am here in Memphis. I will see about your call with the temp. I never thought of that before. However, The days in the very past weeks that you mentioned is ONE day in particular that it was 80 up here and the lid still wouldnt close. I wonder if the last little inch just needs to be pushed down in there a little better. I say this bc it takes damn near all of my weight dist. through one hand to get it to close. Of corse it doesnt do that when the top goes up . Only with the crammed top in its "case" lol... Any other thoughts?

Hmm, besides the obvious stuff I'd be clue less on anything mechanical wise. I'm assuming that you've checked to make sure nothing fell into the compartment etc, have your wife open the top and while it's folding stand beside the car and make sure it's not bunching up. Basically stuff you've probably already done.
Might look around the posts about lubing the joints/hinges. There were some posts on here possibly in the maintenance thread but can't recall exactly. I've no clue what type of lubricant or grease recomended though.
Wish I could offer more advice but I'm just as new to all this as you

Thanks a lot AJ!!! The first link is not my problem. That sounds like a closing lock down of the top to the decklid. I have the problem relating to the 2nd posting. When my top crams itsel into the top storage area, the lid that closes over it (whatever t f it's called) will not click and lock tight into its "position". Thus leaving an indicator light on the dash and u know the rest of the story.. I'll look into all of these suggestions.. I F'n love forums...

I got my 2005 Z just a month ago and am having the same problem as you with the top. I took it back to the dealership and they also said that the cooler weather had alot to do with its operation.

My similar convertible top problem.
My problem is slightly different from your. My convertible top has been service and replace about three time through manufacture warranty. It finally open and close properly. However, I notice the back of the rear roof storage lid on the driver's side would not align with the passenger's side. I don't want to take it back to those f**ker at Nissan. If I have to, I want to find out why did that happened. Doesn't anyone has the same kinda experience?

"When my top crams itsel into the top storage area, the lid that closes over it (whatever t f it's called)"...that would be a Tonneau cover.
