Here is a lesson for you FI fiends
My mate has a GTR with all the fruit - cost a fortune. Anyway he took it to Kwinana racetrack 2 Sundays ago to check out the 1/4 mile times etc. Never been before. Anyway he watching the V8s burning up the track and hes thinking his car won't match them. His first time was 12.6 and 2nd was 12.3 and the 3rd 11.9 (this with a reaction time of .77 - he is not very fast on the pedal). Anyhow he is now nearly the fastest time of the day and decides more revs will fix that....10600 to be exact. (he can alter the rev limit through a gizmo in the cabin).
Well about half way down the track nasty noises start, combined very shortly thereafter with lots of smoke. Great entertainment for the V8 crowd who are not fans of GTR's.
No1 conrod made a break for freedom through the block. He is now rebuilding with forged internals and is older and not that much wiser!!! (20K to rebuild with new parts).

yeh... you got to admit that 10600rpm is very very optimistic.
The GTR can take boost like no tomorrow BUT what made him think he could remove the rev limiter? GTR doesn't = indestructable!
I guess your friend needed to prove that to himself.
Hope he ends up with a better car in the end ...

Thats a lesson for anyone increasing the rev limit without thinking about what parts need to be upgraded first. FI OR NA cars. On this forum you will find alot more NA cars increasing their rev limits than FI cars.

Well, remember when I did the 11.7 last time, I still have 8500rpm limited on the rpm and speed cut at around 180-190km/h. Don't understand why this GTR owner have to rise the rev limits for? (unless he already got a fully rebuild forged internal motor)

But my 60FT time is around 1.7sec, which is not very good for GTR.... Maybe I need a launch controllor and a 2wd/4wd switch.
Note: The function of Launch controllor is to build up boost at launch, so you got max full boost!!!! The only problem is the driveline may suffer.
