Default '03-05 Guys, you NEED 06+ Brakes. Now.

I hated the look of my horrible '03 single piston calipers and tiny rotors, specially with my brothers S2000's OE brakes looking much bigger. The car shouldve came with these from day 1.

As for actual braking performance, im sure its increased but I dont track the car but I wouldnt know. One thing I did notice right away was that they "bite" faster than before.

PARTS:
-07 calipers
-Stop Tech SS lines
-eBay slotted rotors
-Centric ceramic pads
-Dot 3 fluid
-Silver caliper paint

All in all, I spent about $400 for the upgrade on all 4 corners.

Enough talk, onto pics.

So the only actual thing you have 06+ are the calipers while everything else is aftermarket?

Lol

I would say the biggest upgrade in his setup are the calipers.

The HR brakes are awesome. I will be selling my front setup soon as I have the Akebono kit to install. Nice post OP.

No shims? I did the same upgrade not too long ago, except I got ebc pads and rotors and goodridge lines.
Definitely bites harder.

Never thought of installing shims, brakes dont make any noise.

Great upgrade right?

I like it, the red stuff pads are nice. I haven't really needed to do any hard braking at high speed yet, but I feel they are nice for city driving.

The redstuff pads self-destructed on a weekend at the dragon. If you don't push the car, then disregard post.

Are the front rotor sizes the same for the 03-05 (OEM) vs the HR (OEM)? Also, what is the difference for the rear calipers for those years? Are they bigger on the HR?

That rear rotor looks way too big for that caliper.

Is it all just bolt on stuff? I've always thought the 03-05 brakes looked awful tiny. Especially with my new wheels. But I just put all new brakes (rotors and pads) all the way around not too long ago. So I wont be replacing them again for quite some time.

At least the fronts look like they use about half the rotor instead of just 1/4 of it.

Sorry, what I meant was 03-05 (OEM) vs 06+ (OEM). Are the rotors just the same size and the calipers were updated? Or do they have bigger size rotors too?

Good writeup OP

I was originally planning on doing this to my '04 but I ended up going with the Brembo setup instead since I was offered a deal I could not pass up

The rear calipers are technically not the same as the brackets are bigger, you need a full set of calipers and rotors for the swap. The way they look is normal, kinda weird but the slotted rotors really look out of place, there was more metal added to the rear but no bigger calipers so it looks out of place.

They don't look normal. They are only using the outer edge of the rotor.

See how close the caliper bracket is to the hub on the 04 front and then how far away it is on the 06+?

They have the curve in the bracket so it can get the pads deeper onto the rotor without hitting the center hat.
