KW coilovers are absolutely fantastic and absorb bumps like they're nothing.

My vote is KW or Bilstein

Let me start by saying, "I'm not offended" because when I was young, I did a lot of things to my cars that in retrospect, well, I laugh now.

That out of the way, I find that commentary pretty interesting and amusing. When I first got into Z's (that'd be Gen 1, folks), most of the guys racing Z's (and the rest of the Datsun contingent that I supported) were older, established people. And were it not for them, I would not have learned as much as I did about D-I-Y, tuning and racing before paddle shifters, EFI, computers, and understanding WHY car modifications had a proper, stepped and sequenced methodology to it (versus "reading about what the hottest race setup is and buying it off the shelf"). Not that that's a bad thing, mind you, as good info is good info no matter where it comes from.

But now that I'm one of those "old people and kinda boring", I now see and understand the expression they used to use all the time.... "Talk less about how fast it is, BUILD it!"

Honestly, I learned EVERYTHING I know from older people because I took the time to listen and learn. In turn, I still made mistakes but when one of those "older guys" saw that I was making mistakes, they didn't tell me I was stupid; rather, they took more time to help me understand what I did wrong.

Because I listened and respected their opinions and knowledge.

Oh, and there are guys I hang with that are 20 years my senior and they can and do still drive circles around me, a fairly experienced driver. (Note I never said or inferred "good driver" because that's totally the wrong attitude when behind the wheel.) A good friend of mine is in his 70's and still races SCCA, SVRA, and NASA.

Anyways, I truly find humor in this because while I'm a few years advanced of most of this forum's members, I have no regrets about being one of the old fogeys because the only person I have left to please with my cars is me. No illusions.

Cheers,

Mic

I don't mind hanging with those people.

I was like 19 at the time and these people were mid/upper 40's that just had money. They got together to drink coffee and talk about what town they wanted to cruise to to get more coffee. Nothng about building or racing cars etc...

There was nothing to learn from listening to them and they only liked the older cars and wanted nothing to do with anything containing a 3.

I know.... I was just sayin'. But yeah, there are the sets of "car people" (note the quotations) that love to just talk about 'em which just isn't my thing either. "Build it!" or drive it. Memories have their place... in the head. I'm one for making more memories.

I went to the Good Guys car show recently and the predominant thing with those events is social. No problem with that but if I got a blown Hemi 'Cuda, I want people to hear it! Hahaha.

If the streets is crummy, keep it stock. No need to lower and mess up your suspension. U can upgrade the shocks and sway bars for handeling. In your case form<function.

Oklahoma can't be as bad as Hawaii, can it?

I'm also thinking towards the KW V2, just not worth it to cheap out on our crappy roads.

Gravel roads are smoother than our city streets.

My car gets driven off road frequently.

Don't keep it stock. It sits too low and drags on everything. Put lowering springs on to get more ground clearance. That's what I did.

My front bumper drug pulling in my driveway up until I put the hotchkis lowering springs on it. It doesn't drag anymore.

How fast are you coming out the driveway to compress your springs enough? lol

I creep in because there is like a 3/4" lip on the end of the driveway. Don't wanna break the bumper on the car and I bent the back wheel on my bike.

Why would they square off the end of the driveway instead of blending it with the street to make it smooth?
