Default Borla TD (modified) with HFC

Hi all,

New to this forum. I'm in the UK and it's fair to say I'm one of a handful with a Borla true dual exhaust system fitted. I had the mid pipe resonators removed and replaced with straight pipe to improve the sound a bit, and most of the smaller pieces welded up to avoid leaks. I'm wanting to get the car remapped (uprev), so I'm gonna need high flow cats to get decent returns, and I'm considering Berks. I've searched the Internet for videos of people with similar setups (ie, Mid pipe resonators removed plus HFC) and I've come up dry.

I'm hoping some of you guys from across the pond might be able to help. Does anyone else have this setup or something very similar? I'm worried about it being too raspy/loud, and would really appreciate any feedback from people who have this setup.

Cheers in advance,

Adam

I can tell you that Berk HFC's + the "stock" Borla TD sounds great, but that's not exactly what you are looking for.

My setup has some extra bass/rumble at idle, sounds stock-ish in the mid-range, and develops a hint of exotic-ness (new word) toward the top end.

All of this is under load of course. Just revving at idle doesn't really make any not-worthy sounds.

Z1NONLY, do you have any soundclips/videos of your setup at all?

Maybe 2db louder than stock under normal driving.

Why don't you do the X-pipe mod which eliminates the rasp?

Thanks so much for taking the time to record that video man, really is good of you. Sounds awesome too, I think this has helped me make up my mind to go for HFCs

@neoncypher you have a picture of your exhaust where you took mid-pipe resonators out? I'm thinking of doing the same thing to my Invidia Gemini, and haven't seen anyone try it before.

I don't have a picture at the moment, I'll try and get under the car tonight and snap one.

I did find this image online of the system (not mine btw) - essentially I had my exhaust guy replace these two mid pipe resonator sections with straight pipe that he fabricated.

Here's a quick clip of how it sounds:
