Default "you should have got the G35"

How many times have you heard that? I'm on 2 other car forums and if the 350Z ever comes up in a post by someone...you always get the people that say "you should have got the G35, they are way better looking" Granted they are allowed their opinions but don't you think if the guy wanted a G35...HE WOULD HAVE GOT THE G35?!?! I hate when people say "you should have got..."

What forum are you on? Any honda/acura forum is gonna say the G looks better. They like grandmas grocery (sp) getters.

They would rather have a sunroof, cup holder, and 87hp than none of the above and 287hp.

They would rather have a useless backseat to throw there trash and junk in instead of none and a functional rear strut bar.

Them too, I was on LS1.com and they liked the G better. I believe it is because they never actually seen a 350Z in person. The texas guys thought that untill I rolled up in the old mans brickyard that changed there opinion.

That was when I owned a Trans Am. You have to admit pics of the 350z do look bad, its when you see it in person it looks incredible.

People who say that are of 2 schools.

1) They are insanely jealous of you, and if you had a G would say "should have bought a Z." If you bought a ferrari...they like the lambo, and so on.

2) They are of the mentality that "luxury cars are better." I have a friend who tried to tell me that I should have bought a G35. When I asked why, b/c he said b/c of all the luxury features. He had no idea what the hell he was talking about, b/c my Z has 99% of the same features. What a moron! Well, what do you expect from a guy that drives a C240 and dreams of owning a jag. LOL.

I had another friend tell me his C230 has "great engineering" and a "really nice interior." I laughed to his face. 180hp and trim that looks like burned tin foil? I'll pass. **Disclaimer** I'm not trying to rip on any car or the owner of any car.

Either way, all that matters is how much YOU like it. And hopefully you love your ride.

I get the G comment all the time too.. but its really 2 diff cars. The G is a really nice quick coupe. The Z is a flat out sports car. Sometimes I wish I had the backseat, but no one really rode in my maxima but me and my girlfriend. So I was able to accept the Z. I really like it alot, but do think sometimes that I should have gotten the Infiniti. Oh well.

I've got a 98 GTP Coupe, and I wanted a big change this time. I didn't want the praticality of more seats I would rarely use. I wanted two seats, the more agressive look, and the more raw feel.

I understand why they might say what they say, as I seriously looked at the G35C. However, the longer I have the car and the more G35Cs I see, the happier I am with my choice for ME.

Obviously, if they have GTPs, praticality and space might have been concerns for them. That would obviously push them toward the G35C.

Default Because that's what everybody else says

I remember talking with some friends about getting the Z. 2 of them uttered same thing "G35 is better." At that point, I had only been in the Z. So I went and checked out the G35. Test drove it. Inhaled the new car smell. Got the brochure. But still no excitement (for me.)

So the next week, I am having some beers with my buddies and one of them brings up the comment again. I asked him: tell me specifically what makes the G35 that much better? His response?

"I don't really know...that's what everybody else says."

haha!

Cheers!

People were telling me the same thing, although I think they were basing that, in part, on the G35 being more practical since it has the extra seats (plus you get another year of warranty and the extra miles). But it didn't really excite me. The Z roadster, though, makes me breathless. I still can't believe I bought one. I did something that wasn't sensible, and it has me grinning from ear to ear.

when you think about a sports car you can have 20 years from now as a project 'toy'...would you really want a g35? not too many luxury coupes that stand the test of time...a pure sports car will...i plan on keeping my z as my 'fun' car till it's frame turns into dust!

the g35 is a gorgeous car, i loked into them before i baught the Z, but i liked the whole 2 seater thing and how it reminded me of the Z32.

i have gotten the "should have gotten a G" PLENTY of times before. i simply reply "you got a wrx, you shouldve gotten an STI" things like that.

People just assume that the G35 coupe is better because Infiniti is Nissan's premium brand. Really just depends what you're looking for-- a premium coupe or a bad *** racer!

most people i know also says g35 is better. Even the Nissan salesman siad it when I went to take a look at the Z for the first time. (why i dont know...) And they arnt jealous or anything. I can see where they are comming from, G35 is more practical and a lot of people think it looks better. better quality interior. It also carries the skyline moniker... Im affraid those people are the majority. the fact of the matter is, sports car lovers are the minority today, so Im not suprised at all that most people likes the G35 better.

It dosnt matter what they think though...
I personally still like the 350Z better, not that the extra 7 hp matter, but cause its a real sports car, it looks like an european exotic, and Base Z goes for 25k or less now
I dont want a sport coupe/sedan, i want a real sports car!

I had alot of folks ask me "Why not G35c?" when I was thinking about purchasing the Z.

I guess somewhere in the twilight zone it's advertised that the G and Z are identical and the only thing separating them two is a price tag and exterior.People think they're just the "luxury" premium version of the Z.

So I finally get the Z and everyone sort of knows where I'm coming from now.

Tire feathering : vs no tire feathering. On the G35 boards thay ask ho can they get 350Z suspension. Why oh why? Invite problems.
