Injen True CAI for the HR!!!
There are a handful of Intakes out there for the HR motor that claims to be be a CAI and non has proven to actually be a better option to the OEM intake set-up. Finally, Injen came up with this:
The design on the piping on this intake is so that the air that passes through, although less restrictive, is regulated so that it's still closer to OEM airflow which avoids MAF sensor from detecting too much air flowing in too soon.
Injen dyno tested this and gains were from 15-18 hp and about 13 lbs of tq more. The intake will be available at the end of this month for the 350Z HR and mid June for both the G35 sedan and G37 respectively.
My initial impression of the intake just by seeing where the filters were located was very positive to say the list. When I actually got to test it on my way home from the install, well lets that just say that both my auditory and touch perception were heightened. Sound and feel differences from the OEM intake are noticeable. The car just pulls harder and is breathing more freely.
These were felt both from a dead stop run and from a 60 to 120 mph roll. I'm sorry to say that I have no dyno sheets of my own to prove this, but will be getting one soon and I will share them with you. Except for my suspension and wheel set-up, my car is stock. I have a baseline dyno run, just need to go use that same dyno to see how much HP if any I gained with this intake. But if what I'm sensing is correct, Injen's HP claims will be validated.
Actual price for the 350Z intake set-up will be around the $500 range, while pricing on the G35 sedan and G37 model are not yet finalized.
Note:
The Z kit was much more involved to make compared to the Gs.
The location of the factory horns will have to be relocated on this kit
to accommodate the filters and all mounting brackets/hardware will be included.

Nice intakes, but I highly doubt these will gain any horsepower at all. If previous experience serves me right, these will only provide a nice growl under throttle, and thats about it. 15-18 hp? Maybe 1-2 if that. Nice design nonetheless

when you car gets moving the stock intakes get "cold air" its always been true that the VQ motors always work better with short ram intakes or stock air boxes with velocity stacks. save your money and use it towards exhaust.
I already know stock>fujitas but just for arguments sake...

Note though that Injen saw what others did, and solve the issue of why the "others" couldn't make something that has gains worth the money. It took them a year after most intakes had been out and there is a reason for that.
Here's a thread from the G37 site showing gains backed up by a dyno sheet and how the intake sounds.
Note: G37 is a 6MT and has no mods except for the intake.
The filters on the Gs are located much lower than where the Z is.
It's located way down in there next to the front tires and the
washer fluid reservoir needed to be changed to a smaller one and
will be included in the kit.

at the dyno #'s. I don't see how these will get any more flow than the Fujita/JWT/Nismo's. The filters sit behind the bumper support or at least partially. Not only that but they are also blocking the radiator. I'll stick with my Fujita's.

so the dyno was done by injen?? sorry still skeptical. i've had injen cold air intake on another car and when i went back to stock intakes the increase in torque and responsiveness was immediately noticeable. The funny thing is that even after installing the injen, I would've told you it was worth it because it was louder and "felt" faster. i'll wait a little longer to see more independent dyno's.
