Default Celica GT spoiler on our Z's?

So...I PM'd Txstyle, and found he had put a Celica GT spoiler on his black Z. I thought it looked great. And a while back someone had started a group buy on a spoiler that supposedly looked identical? I assume that's long gone, but am interested in one of those spoilers. If anyone knows anything about it...if it is truely identical in shape and of good quality as the one Txstyle has...I need to get in touch with whoever can get me one asap. Otherwise, I am going to look into the Celica spoilers available locally...and hope they mount up nicely. I've asked Txstyle if he had to retrofit the mounts at all...but haven't heard back yet. If anyone else has done the same...please comment. Thanks.

So no one remembers those group buy posts from 5 or so months ago? No one can comment at all and help a brother out? If anyone knows someone who mounted that style wing...please give up some info. Here is a link of what it looks like.

Or better yet, I believe this one will get you a pic of Txstyle's:
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=59197

Check out those threads...I believe the black Z is Autotech4554's car...I've PM'ed him also but to no avail. Hoping someone remembers these conversations. Somewhere in one of those threads it comments that the wing was a Mazda RX-8 spoiler...but that didn't sound right to me. Anyone......anyone....Bueller?

I'd have to say no. I traded my Celica for the Z. I look at the pics of the wing on the car and expect to see a Celica under it but the Z is there, ya know? Kinda weird. I think that it resembles the style of the Nismo wing but i don't like the way this one sits on the deck. THe two arms looks 'weak' so to speak (to me anyway).

Well...actually, it is the "weakness" you mention that makes me like it. I don't like the stupid subwing between the uprights on the Nismo spoiler...looks like *** IMO...and this wing doesn't have that. Matter of fact, if the Nismo wing didn't have that crap between the uprights...I probably would have ordered it. Anyway...since no one is piping in to help comment on the fit of this idea (and I know others have done it)...I am taking the risk. Just ordered the wing $195 plus shipping and hopefully things will go well. I am also ordering the Veilside ver. 1 front lip in urethane. Will get all painted and installed and maybe post a pic or two...unless it turns out like crap and I'm embarrassed to be a Z owner when it's said and done. Anyway, no one can get the Vertex urethane side skirts in short order...so I'm waiting until after SEMA to see what other quality options come out.

Later....next time I need some help...I'll scream bloody murder and one of you guys will hopefully step up!

Yes, that wing does look nice...but I'm not into the raw CF look...so other than the weight thing...I'm OK with the Celica spoiler....for those of you that mounted it already...did you have to modify the uprights at all? Man...$50 on Ebay? Hope you get a good quality...I overpaid if yours is the same...but I trust what I'm going to be getting. Looks nice Dr. Volkl...do you have any comments about mounting it? Is the positioning on the trunk flexible...or is there really only one obvious way to mount? I want to be sure I am there if need be when the body shop decides to mount...unless there is really no variation in the location they may choose. Please comment. Thanks.

I think after looking at it a few times i'm more accepting of it. NOt bad. The only thing is you're paying wayyyy too much. You can get them used pretty cheap like $50. A lot of the celica people replace them. If you can cancel the order i'm sure you could find a cheap one on www.newcelica. Either way, hope it goes good for you and post pics when its done man!

Unfortunately either I didn't post soon enough...or no one responded quick enough. Either way you look at it I'm screwed paying too much. Guess I've spent more foolish money...I just hope the one I get is top notch quality and no additional priming, sanding is needed. Thanks for the feedback...since I was comparing the cost of $195 to all other spoiler options at well over $350, I guess I didn't think twice. Will post pics in a couple weeks when I get back all put together.

I got mine off ebay for like $112...so don't get too upset about it. I don't mind having a Toyota product on my car...I figure they've been making wings longer than most of these other companies.

The fit is pretty easy, I had a body shop mount and match the color. I paid thru the nose for that, but that would have been the same for any aftermarket wing.

I have no regrets, and people love it. That carbon nismo wing is really nice...I like how it has the posts, unlike the other versions I've seen. I still prefer the non edgy look of the TC wing tho.

Don't know if it's true or not...but supplier said the $50 spoilers on Ebay are most often junk...said I'd probably spend an additional $150+ on the body shop's time to make it look nice and install looking professional. Anyway, not going to beat myself up...planning on getting good quality...others will have to post how their's looks from Ebay after receipt. Hope everyone's is nice.

If it's nice this weekend, I'll get it cleaned up and get some pics to post. I think the wing looks great and is exactly what I was shooting for. Regarding the quality..it was phanominal...only a few pinholes got missed on prime, and as **** as I am, I am not at all disappointed. Touch up paint will fill the two little holes I found...I've seen wings on Porshes not look as nice.

Driven,

Sorry... I could have sworn I replied back to you?

At any rate..... As I've stated since day 1.....
I ABSOLUTELY L O V E my TC spoiler! And I bullshiz you not... I get compliments on the spoiler CONSTANTLY!
I'm happy, fit & finish is GREAT. And IMO, it looks more "In place" on the Z than the Celica.
As far as $$ goes.... I would not be hard on yourself for spending a couple hundred bucks on a spoiler. Personally I would NOT buy & mount ANYTHING (major cosmetic) under a few hundred dollars...
Mine is OEM and was bought at a local Toyota dealer. It is 100% fiberglass and is just plain hott!

Good Luck.

Just to make sure, you are using a 200x Toyota Celica OEM Wing? Correct?

Hey guys, the spoiler that I got is OEM used spoiler for $50. So the quality is pretty good except it is painted yellow.

Sorry for the old thread bump, I was looking for more pictures of this wing... and I just ordered the celica spoiler, from www.spoilerdepot.com painted nissan factory paint, for just under $200 shipped.

You just have to call them and say you saw the wing on e-bay for a discount.
