Default Cloudy headlights

Does anyone else have this problem? It looks like there is a "film" on there that WILL NOT come off. If this is a known problem is there a TSB for it? It really detracts from the look of the car.

Yeah I have that too. It looks like some sort of oxidation of the plastic cover... or kind of like there was a sticker on the light but it was torn off and left some sticky glue behind.

A guy lives next to me that drives a G35 and he says his are doing the same thing.

I was thinking of getting some overlays to cover it up.

What's causing the haziness? Do you guys get condensation on the inside of the lens? When I had the clear bra put on my car, I had the headlights done too to prevent them from getting scratched. Worked great-- they still look like new!

It’s not a tsb yet but the dealer replaced mine because of this problem under material defect.

Beware: the dealer may try and argue that the 'staining' is on the outside and therefore not a warranty item. If you get this argument, ask them to try a clean if off, if they can't then it's not on the outside but on the inside of the lens and should be replaced. That’s how I got mine done.

I have the same thing, its like a film on the exterior side of the light. I've tried rubbing it off with all kinds of non-abrasives.

Cleaner Wax guys. It works wonders. I don't see how replacing the headlight will help in any matters, because I don't they have changed the materials of the plastics. Yeah but Cleaner Wax definitely works.

Is it safe to clay bar the headlight enclosures?

How would one going about removing the cover and getting at the inside?

I don't mean to retract from this thread, but if someone could please look at my other thread : https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....hreadid=101175

I am not only having the cloudy problems on one headlight, but I have some clearcoat overspray stuck to the headlight as well. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Digging up this thread for an update...

I claybarred the overspray off the headlight, and then talked to the dealer about the cloudy inside. The dealer is ordering me some new headlights! These are the track xenons, and he told me they cost $700 from nissan.. I'm just happy they went so far.

Oh yeah, and they also are replacing my side mirrors because the clear coat was wearing off...
