I'm wondering too if it's possible to unlock the door with a duplicate key made by a locksmith?

I locked myself out of the car for the first time in this car. I left the key in the ignition(engine running) and I closed the door, oops! I had to call my friend to pick me up and go home and get the spare key. I don't know why it did lock.

Default Yes

Yes a standard key made my a locksmith will open your door. With out the little resistor in the key it should not start your car. But that's not a problem if you left your factory key in the car.

Is that a Standard VATS setup? Those resisters are easy to bypass

Otherwise key from the dealer? thats the only way I can get keys for my car. Ignition anyways.

Bench,

"yes the car locked when i closed the door while the engine is running."

Really?, Cause I tried it and it didn't, the only way I could lock it was using the spare key fob

that is a standard feature, the thought is... the door must be unlocked to exit the vehicle. now as long as the door is open, the door wont lock, meaning it was open to start, and will be open when you closed it.

should be electronicly impossible for you to do such a thing.

I couldnt lock the door with the key in the ignition on my CL-S. Does anybody else wish that the key or fob looked a little different? I want one that stands out and looks like it belongs on the Z.

me too, they shoulda taken a cue from VW or mercedes on this one. probably more VW since we dont want to get into optical keys.

they have that switchblade key thing going on, pretty cool if you ask me. than stamp a small version of the Z emblem on the back. woulda looked pretty neat.

ok..... so let me get this straight....... if the key is in the ignition and ur getting out of the Z. can you lock ur door. cuz most cars i have had . it wont let you lock ur door . so it saves you from lockin you out of a running car.

A little side question:

I recieved two black keys with remote. One Red key (may be vallet). Is there any combination key tag? We usually need this when we lost our keys and dealer needs it for reorder.... I know now adays dealers can pull out info based on VIN.

I asked www.japanparts.com and they are not able to get them because of something about Japans strict laws on blank keys. But there has to be a way to get some blank ones.

you should have had a tag that would signal your key for a replacment to be made. inquire to your dealer if you didnt get one.

anyone have a larger picture of that key in the picture? its so small, I can barely see what it is.
