Hello All,
I am trying to figure out what the problem. i did a search on this topic and found nothing. my last two fill ups (pumped like 50 time to fill up) is very annoying. here is the issue, I cant just insert the nozzle and set the pump and wait, it only pumps lke .5 gallon at a time. I shake the car, look for leaks, i cant find anything. I called the dealer and they said my VIN was not in the recall list at all.
any of you expierenced this?

I have experienced this before, mine would take about 5 gallons and then quit when I was completely empty? Even after the fuel hose recall, it still occassionally happens, however, I don't think they would honor any type of warranty claim (sig).

Hmmm That's weird... I had the opposite problem with my WRX. It would sit there on auto fill and wouldn't stop... Needless to say I was pissed when they tried to charge me what it took to fill + all the gas on the ground and on the side of my car!!! G/L
Usually this happens to 2007's...
I know mine does it a lot...called Nissan of NA. They said to have a dealer check it out...But that'll be pointless cuz they'll just say they can't find the program or charge me for it...
Unless a bunch of people call and file a complaint.

The car isn't at fault for a pump that stops all the time. The only thing that could be happening is splash back off the chamber hitting the nozzle sensor triggering it to turn off. That's it.
And if this is happening, I'd inspect the car for any rear-end damage, if you bought it used. There could be an unseen crease or fold inside causing the gas to splash. Either that, or the pump tip is poorly angled and shooting straight, as opposed to downward.

There is a Recall on 2003-2005 Nissan 350Z's for being difficult to fill up at the pump with the exact issue that your describing. You have to replace the shutter valve on the end of the fuel filler tube in the tank itself. If you know how to remove a fuel sending unit then you can do it yourself. It simply involves pulling your fuel pump out of your tank thru your glovebox.
After that you have to bend one baffle towards the rear of the tank slightly back and remove the old shutter valve and replace it with the new one. It just turns to the left and comes off, put your new one on and turn it to the right until you feel it stop turning, give a slight tug, if it doesnt move then you put it in right. Bend that baffle back to its original position and put your sending unit back in.
I did this on my own car and it fuels up fine now with no intermittent stops while fueling.

^ damn, thanks for the info guys, but why would it happen all of a sudden. for a while i could only pump 10 gollans. but I will try a different gas station, even though I did that already. but going through the correction procedure you just mentioned I am just lazy. wish you were local...
this happens to lots of cars at the pumps. .it's that the psi is coming out when you gas up. .if u can try to hold a lil of the rubber that suctions to the filler off a tad so that some air escapes. .should work fine!
