Default Time to raise hell, dammit!

I think it is time that the members of this forum get an organized letter/email campaign going. This tire feathering problem on the early models of the 350Z is just ridiculous. Nissan replaced the front tires and gave a "fix calibration" to the dealers to perform to "correct" the problem. From what I have read, the problem is not fixed at all and tire feathering continues at the same rate of deteroration (fuct tires every 11 to 15K miles).

Any of you activists have any suggestions on where we should send our complaints that will actually get some action out of NIssan. Customer Service seems to be a deadend.

If we could literally bombard (like 100+ complaints per day) Nissan with this complaint we may get some action.

It is a $@&%ing shame that this great car has to have such a nasty and expensive ongoing problem which results from poor engineering.

Are you telling me you managed to get your car bought back because of the tire feathering problem?

I think MXPX is saying I filed a lawsuit, not I settled a lawsuit and they bought my Z back. Filing is one thing, getting satisfaction is a whole different ballgame.

I've owned Corvettes before my Z. 11000 miles on Goodyear runflats is great. If I get 11000 miles out of the Bridgestones & that's the only problem with the Z, I will be very happy.

I LOVE MY 2004 350Z Roadster

Great post. People that have never driven a sports car don't seem to understand this. They are not driving a Cavalier. The car comes with negative camber from the factory and you can't rotate the tires. Tire wear is inevitable.

Well I don't agree that this is just what you should expect out of a sports car....I have owned 3 mustangs from a 1992,1994, and 1999 and a on all I got 32000 miles out of the original tires.......I just think it is a suspension problem that will eventually be fixed......

Haha, he called a Rustang a sports car. It is a "Pony" car, not a sports car. They don't even have independent rear suspension, and I don't think there is anyway that V6 Mustang had neer the negative camber the Z comes with.

A Mustang is not even in the same class as the Z. Don't kid yourself.

I have a friend with a Porsche and he has NEVER had any feathering problems. I consider his car a Sports car.

No feathering, but I've owned and driven various Porsches for almost 20 years and trust me, they have their problems too.

Probably cause "feathering" seems to be a Nissan made up word that most people don't understand, even most people on this board don't understand it. I guarantee that Porsches go through tires just like the Z does, I'm not talking about the crappy Boxter or a 1980s poor mans Porsche like the 944.

I have owned a few Porsches in my time, and I am currently on the waiting list for a new 997. (I want a 2006, not a 2005).

I can tell you that while I accept higher tire wear as part of the cost of driving a sports car, this is something different.

My tires are cupping bad (feathering in Nissan-ese). I had the dealer swap out a set at 14k ( I ran it as long as I could), and now at 24k its back to being as bad.

When I returned to the dealer they told me that they aligned the car and that in the last 10k miles I must have had it out of alignment by hitting something. That it is not their issue.

I went to an indenpendant tire chain and had them check my alignmnet. It is to spec.

Nissan has stated that their new specs fix the issue, and they can now basically put the blame on the drivers. (Your tires werent properly inflated, you are out of alignment, dogs love trucks not sports cars).....

Anyway, I am just going to run them until they are completely ruined and replace. I will do that until I rid myself of this car.

You know its funny, I have always felt attached to my sports cars, with this car as an exception. I guess its the little things. My car rattles like a baby, has window issues, and the worst paint in the free world. Total disappointment. It's fun to drive but not a car that I am excited by.

Hey, these are just my thoughts. My wife has already approved me to go with a new C6 vette, or a M3. I just don't want to lose money by buying these and then trading for the 997. Plus I would rather this crappy paint get the love bug damage than a car I love.

my .02

Wow, you don't enjoy people expressing their thoughts unless they match yours.

You must be so tolerant and popular.

I do enjoy the z, I just don't love it.....actually why explain what I am saying to you....
