I'm lucky, my parents are still paying my car insurance, well i give my parents like 200 or 250 a month besides rent so i guess i do help out with insurance. I just started a job so they are letting me get settled in. I'm 22. I have no accidents and i had one ticket but i think its off now so my insurance shouldn't be high, I also have USAA. We have 4 drivers and we have 6 cars and i think it is like over 7k a year for insurance. Thats the number i remember anyways, i might be way off.

damn, i guess USAA's rates ARE hard to beat. im 22, single, full coverage on the Z is 1700 a year. thats under my own policy with two speeding tickets. it will drop down next october when my last speeding ticket is dropped. then drop even more the following April when i turn 25.

fuzzy on the math on that... But my $.02:

I'm 28, married. Under my policy, my '03Z, wife's '04 A4. Clean records, no tix, no accidents, live in the middle of Chicago and pay $875 every 6 mos. with Progressive. And I commute ~20k per year to get to work. Oh, and $14k PER YEAR?! DAAAAAAAAMN! You could just by a new Z every 2 years! Can you still walk straight?

22 single - $175 a month

G35, IS300, and BMW 330i would have been more. C-class benz would have been about $50 less for some reason. You should be able to get a quote at progressive.com w/o entering a SSN number if you don't want them to run a credit check.

Pretty soon teenagers won't be able to get insurance period. Even under their parents. Just about every week here some kid spins their car off the road and it ends in tragedy.

States make all the difference. My insurance went down when I got my Z (traded in 1993 SAAB 9000 CSE - my ski car, for my 04 350), I was 23 at the time, totally clean record. Then the insurance company found out I moved to Miami and my insurance went up above where it was when I had the SAAB. I pay like 2100/yr now, good grades, college degree, in grad school, and all the good driver discounts you can get.

Rightfully so too, my Z has been hit twice (once I got t-boned, the other time was hit and run while I was parked in lot, plus it got keyed) in the 15 months I've owned it.

Can't drive to save their lives, or my life either. I can't believe how many hit and runs I've seen since I've been down here.

But yea, if I lived in hialeah I'd just get shot anyway so I guess at least I have a fighting chance down here huh? Finally taking my Z to the shop to basically get almost the entire body replaced (doors, rear bumper, rear quarters, they're even taking the hatch off), so when I get back my car should look brand new.

So for the kid who asked what insurance was...it doesn't matter what the rest of us pay, major factor is where you live. My insurance went up (and rightfully so) simply because I moved for grad school.
