Austin 350zers.
I ordered my Z in June, at Round Rock Nissan. I have been reading posts about tracking your Z, or looking it up on the NNA website. Dumb question, how do I do this? My dealer says that they don't have an order # for me yet, or a confirmation. Do I need the order # to track my Z or see what the VIN # is? Should the dealership provide this? My scheduled delivery is the end of Dec. Am I just getting impatient, or is this normal for an order that is less than 2 months from delivery? Any advice?

If your order was part of the pre-order program, then there should be an order # of some sort. Your VIN won't be available until the car is loaded onto the boat to ship out of Japan, IIRC. The online "tracking" is really just checking the inventory of the dealership as it gets close to the expected delivery date.
Hope this helps.

Anthz,
Don't woory man, your Z will come. When it does you have a great group of 350z owners in the area to help you out with any questions you have. I went to one meeting and met a variety of guys: articfury, goober, tourign6_MT, gmoney1, old skooler and others who makes this experience so much more fun. Get ahold of them woth any questiosn or concerns. There is a large Austin area support group to help you out. I hope to see you soon at a Z get together.

Anthz,
I vaguely recalled the initial pre-order program ended sometime in May 2002. Those that ordered within the time window got a confirmation letter from Nissan. You can call 1-800-NISSAN1 to check if your order date fall within that window. The salesman at the dealers are not the most informed folks.
From delivery schedule standpoint, most of us found out from the dealer around one month ahead. I got mine only after calling the dealer GM (my salesman didn't bother to return 2 of my phone calls). We got the VIN# a couple weeks before the delivery schedule. Only the VIN# can be tracked via nissandriven.com. Once you get the "projected" delivery date, add another week in there to reset your expectation, so you don't have a heartache later on that date. Mine car showed up 3 days late. I took vacation time off during that period to enjoy the car but ended up sitting home waiting and frustrating myself. Some cars did showed up a little earlier. Many folks have the same experience.
Hope this help.
BTW: What color and model is yours?
