Default clutch noise

2004 Roadster production date 06/04 with 525 miles. I put a post out earlier this week regarding clutch noise. All I got back was that the sound I am describing is normal. I've owned 4 sports cars and every car but 1 in the past 15 years has been a manual. I have never had the noise on any others including 3 prior Z's. Maybe I did not describe the noise or symptoms very well.

When the car is in any gear or in neutral with the clutch depressed 3/4 of the way to the floor or all the way to the floor I get a knocking noise. The noise is very low pitched. It sounds like a rod knocking. I can also feel this in the clutch pedal. It really feels like a bad throw out bearing.

Any tips would be great. It is going to the dealer on Monday. Would like to be prepared for the normal run around I have heard so many others getting from the Dealer.

HI
I am having the same problem. If your dealerships are the same as here (I suspect they are) then they will give you the run around.
I took mine to the dealer the other day and they said they could not hear or feel anything & that the diagnostics were all OK...

I was suspecting that they would say that!

So, I contacted a mechanic in Sydney (I am in Oz by the way) who brought in a zed about a year before they were released here for racing purposes.

This guy has pulled a zed apart like 50 times

.....He diagnosed the prob over the phone....Some of the dual mass flywheels tend to have a problem and this is what causes the intermittent metallic sound and the similar pulse thru the clutch. He says that Nissan Australia ( and Nissan worldwide)do know about the problem but will not admit it. They will say that this is normal.

HOWEVER, he did tell me that a few here in Aus have been replaced because they were overly noisy...almost like the noise that the lightened flywheels that some people have put onto their cars....

I suggest you guide the F*(&*& at your dealership this way so they don't waste time looking in other areas.

I hope this helps...

Default Re: clutch noise

Took car to the dealer today regarding clutch noise. The response from the guy overseas is absolutely correct. Dealer said it was either flywheel or throw out bearing. Both parts are on order going in on Dec 13th. Additionally the car was pulling to the right. They are replacing strut rod.

Hope this is not the beginning of a bad trend. The car only has 540 miles.

2004 Roadster 6spd 06/04 production. Would like to let the other guys who siad this was a normal sound that they should go push on the dealers. It is not normal.
