Insurance for my Z
I know there was a post regarding this sometime.
I am curious to hear how much you guys are paying to insure this beast.
I currently have statefarm planning on buying the car next weekend.
If you guys could list some companies that you had experience with and charge fair premiums I would defeniately like to hear.
As of this moment I have not called any insurance companies. And I defeniately don't want to spend $400 a month to insure a car. That is a little rediculous.

depends on your age, if you are married, and your driving record. but i had statefarm about 6 years ago and had them all my life. When i got married, i moved over to country company ins, and to insure my wife and i on her 01 Montero and my 03 Z, we pay $230/mo. we dont have any tickets on our licenses either. to move from my 01 pathfinder LE to my 03 Z, my ins only increased by $30/mo
Well I am 25 in december. Single. So far I have found a quote for 1800 per 6 months.
So that is 300/ month. Man I don't know if that is something I can do. Considering Z pmnt will be 380/month.

Gram - how old are you? how long have you been with your ins company? what ins co are you with? do you have your home owners ins thru them? and life? those are all things that impact your monthly rates. i've priced every reputable ins co out there, and based on my age, liability (all my cars are leases and require 300/100 full coverage ins) and cars, that was the best rate out there.
TriX - with you being 25, and based on your mo payment it sounds like you are leasing as well. because you have to carry 300/100 coverage, single, male, in a sports car, that sounds about right. Sucks, but thats how it works. If you can swing it, go for it!

My Z should be arriving within maybe 2-3 months......
I got an Allstate quote for ~$1250 for 6 mos, which is looooow.
I'm 21, single, clean record. Plus I may throw in a "good student" discount... Shouldn't be too bad.

wow i am getting jacked then 1250 / 6 months is a good deal.
I think that miami just sucks.
I am 25 single good record but I don't think 400/month is something i can justify. That is buying the car.
I will probably put down 10 k take a loan on the rest I assume 20k. Which equates to 380/month.

I am 30, single, with clean record, and 10+ year no claim bonus. The quote I got from Safeco is $868 for 6 months, which is an increase of about 30 bucks a month over my current car (merc cougar).....seems reasonable to me.

when will people realize that insurance will vary wildly depending on where you live, what someone pays out in sister****, alabama is irrelevant if you live in manhattan.
even within the LA area, within a few miles depending on which city you live in can have a drastic impact on insurance (as in 100% difference)

There are many more factors to insurance than what is listed below.
To list a few...
1: Good student discounts. If you are in college of some sort you can qualify for these.
2: Daily driver or recreation driver. HUGE difference.
3: Married
4: Home Owner
5: Multi Car discounts
6: Age (duh)
7: Sex (duh)
8: Driving record
9: Location.
Some other little ones are rental insurance, glass breakage, etc.
All of these contribute to how much you will pay for insurance.
Progressive quoted me for 1,450 for 6 months, with 1 speeding ticket and 3 not at fault accidents on my record. At the same time, Farmers insurance quoted me 3,000 for 6 months for "5 points" against my record.

just got my official quote in from State Farm.
with a home owners policy and a second vehicle insured with them, my Z insurance comes to $119/mo.
The key is to have both auto and home policies with the same insurer and try to insure a second vehicle as well.

Of course every detail makes a difference. That is why I said I would like to hear peoples impressions of dealing with insurance companies regarding this car.
And maybe get some ideas.
Well, I use my dad for the insurance which cost him only $750 per/y. I'm 27, also our house and 4 other cars are in the same company. I was shocked to hear that price
. My dad is about 57 y/old.

Z PHAT Z: Thanks. See this is what I meant by getting ideas.
I spoke with a friend and he asked me if my dad would just co-sign on the thing for me. I have paid for my own insurance since I was 21 but I guess if it means that my pmnts would go down drastically that wouldn't be a bad idea.
Thanks.

some insurance companies factor your credit rating -- you can get a discount if you have good credit (why this matters, i'm not sure)
