Default Credit

I am looking into getting a new Z in the Spring(April) and I am going to order it from this dealer near me who said I can order it whenever I want and when it gets there they will keep it inside(out of the weather) and hold it until I come in to purchase it. They also offered me $99 over invoice on a Performance or Enthusiest. He also said that if I am in mid to high 700s on my credit check, I could get 2% financing. I was wondering, what would be the best and cheapest way to look up my credit report? And it has to be a credit report with a credit number. I got a free one once when someone looked at my credit and all it shows was that I was never late on anything, no number.

I don't think I will have a problem, I am 23 in April and I hav had credit cards since 16. Have had a brand new car bought and paid off by myself. Lived by myself. Insured my own cars. Everything on my own and I have never once missed a payment or been late on anything.

Also, does anyone know what % I will get if I fall just short f mid 750+ on my credit report?

That number is your FICO score. Most credit reporting agencies make you pay to get your FICO score calculated. If you go to www.freecreditreport.com they will e-mail you all 3 creditreports and your FICO score for a few bucks.

Different lending agencies will offer you different interest rates even based on the same score. The best way to buy a car is to get your financing in advance. Look up the invoice at www.edmunds.com, add taxes to it and walk into the showroom with a check. Some banks have books with the invoice prices of the vehicles and the individual options. If you have a trade in, PM me and I will show you how to calculate yourself a good deal with a trade in.

Interesting. I didn't know dealers were offering %2.0 on 2005 Z's. Sounds awesome.

Kinda ironic how it "costs a few bucks" to get your credit report on www.FREEcreditreport.com lol It looks like on your link that the deal has expired. Oh well, I am still going to try for it and see what happens.

the government has started a program for free credit reports as well. if you are on the west coast, they are available now, and will make their way east over the next few months.
www.annualcreditreport.com

you are allowed 1 per year. the midwest will get them in march, then the east coast in june i think.

i check my credit report every 3-4 months because i had some problems with a kid in college with the same name as me, and his crappy credit showing up under my name, and what not, his unpaid credit cards, things like that. to get a 750+ is hard to do.
i think you get there once you have perfect credit for 20+ years or something.

there are a few places to get the reports at. make sure you get it from all three companies though (transunion, experian, and equifax) as some things show up on one, but not another one.

everyone should check their credit twice a year or so, and look at it a few months before making a major purchase (car, home, etc) to make sure it is ok. it took me about 2 months for them to clear out those mistakes on mine, and for it to show up on the report.

Just though I would jump in here. I'm somehwhat a newbie on these forums and just enjoy reading what you guys/gals have to say. You can obtain free credit reports from all 3 agencies. (not the scores, but they cost 6 to 7 bucks) It's a new law (FACT ACT) that went into effect Dec 1. that all credit bureuas MUST give you a copy of your credit report for FREE. They are rolling this out starting Dec.1 on the west coast and phasing it in quarterly with each section of the country.

Check out the website www.annualcreditreport.com

Hope this helps,

LOL. But your work day ends before ours. You're lucky.

Yeah, all 3 reports with "FICO" scores are the way to go. Another thing you may be interested in is account monitoring.(alerts are e-mailed to you) check out www.truecredit.com

foochdawg- It sound like your doing a good job with your credit. The best advice anyone can give you is pay your bills on time, try max out your credit cards. As said earlier, check your credit report at least once if not twice a year.

FICO delinquency scores generally go up to 850. Getting a perfect score is next to impossible. Also keep in mind financial institutions use several different scores. Ecah credit bureau has at LEAST 10 different scoring models they offer to banks, credit unions, etc.

Getting to a 750 score is very possible if you keep up with everything. If something bad happens on your credit report, it generally takes 2 years to get your score up. (Except in the case of fraud)

Hope this is somewhat helpful.

I went to MSN.com and clicked on a link for a free credit report and you get account access free for 30 days and then you are billed monthly unless you cancel, which I plan to do. My score is 729. I expected a little bit higher but it still has my car loan on there. That will be paid off when I go to acctually purchase/finance the Z. So hopefully that number will move up a little bit. Eitehr way it is in the "Exellent" bracket. So I should get a decent offer if anything. Thanks for the help.

Redhawk is right.

Remember that every time someone checks your credit, it shows up and negatively affects your credit. My score dropped a lot when i was looking for the best deal on a loan, and it got checked 5 different times.

Credit checks stay on for about 2 years

Missed/late payments, leins, bankruptcy stays on 5-7 years.

It really sucks that so much is based on our credit history. from buying a car, to getting utilities. I am working on mine right now because there are some bad things on mine. The credit checks, that problem with others persons stuff showing up on my credit report, and then i ran into some problems a while ago and was late on a couple of payments. They seem so insignificant at the time, but they add up to kill your credit.

hell, they even look at things like differences between balance and credit limit, and what that credit limit is. I have closed accounts and lowered my limits, but that is bad. they give me the "some of your account limits are low, this negatively affects your score because higher limits shows lenders are more willing to trust you" wtf? they screw me because I called and had my limits lowered on a couple of cards because i didn't like having a $25,000 limit?

it is rather frustrating at times dealing with this. either your balances are too high, or you don't carry any balances from month to month (like me) , or this, or that. They say that my credit would be even better if i carried some balance from month to month. that it would have been better if i didn't pay off my 3 year car loan in 6 months, or my 4 year dell computer loan in a year and a half. gerrrrrrrrrrrrr

// end rant.

you should get a good deal with that........ depending on the reporting agency, mine varies from 701-718, not great, but it is getting better (a year ago is was low-mid 600's, which is down right crappy) gotta be young and stupid before you can be old and wise i guess

My roommates is 530. lol That is very bad. She gets denied for everything. Credit cards seem to run some girls lives. She doesn't even pay her school loan. So, it could be worse

Yeah, I had to help her get a car after she totalled her lancer(got before credit drop). You have ANY idea how difficult that was??? I would get things down to good deals, good rates...then they check the credit. "We won't finance you." *sigh* If she wrecks this one, she's on her own lol

Credit is something that we never thought of as kids or for that matter in my early 20's. But at some point in time, you have to pay it all back. 10 grand in credit cards if not handled properly can easiliy (sp) take 10 years or longer to pay off if you just pay the min amount due. Most people do this and don't figure it out until you hit your 30's. Then when you have a family it just adds to the every day problem that people have with money.

I thought of credit the first day I got my frist credit card. I heard from my parents(dad had bad credit until he met mom and helped him starighten it all out). Their credit is flawless now but they instilled good things in me lol. I will never let my credit drop. I know how important it is.

And the girl is a roommate, not a GF, never will be, I won't get involved with someone I live with. It won't last and when it ends...the house will now suck lol. I also did not co sign. I am not putting my fingerprints on the train wreck. I would be scared sh*tless if I had a credit like that.

oh so true.

i had a buddy that cosigned for a girl friend. got screwed when she dumped him. she just stopped paying it.

i wish my parents had tought me more about credit. but it is all getting better now that i dont spend every dime i have on cars.
my biggest mistake was competeing with rich old men when i was in college in the MR2 world. dumping $20,000+ into a car when in college wasn't the brightest thing for me to do.
