Bose System
I have a convertible 04 with Bose and factory sub. With the stereo turned off the speakers still hiss. Also the stereo reception is crap. Dealer said they are powered speakers and as long as the car is on or the key is in the acc position this will happen. Are they full of crap or is this the truth.
That doesn't happen on my 03. Speakers go dead silent when the stereo is switched off. Radio reception is crap...when you switch to FM from CD, it's like you have an entirely different (crappier) stereo. But CDs sound decent.

Your dealer is full of crap. All speakers need power to operate. Powered speakers = speakers with built in amps like computer speakers. Passive speakers = speakers that use an external amp like bookshelf speakers. Car speakers are usually "passive".
When they're off, they should be receiving NO power.

I have a Bose system too. Mine does not do what yours is doing.
The -Z- Bose amp is suposed to power-on when you turn the HU on. It sounds like yours is on all the time.
Somtin's rong!

Thanks guys. Before I told tem they were full of it I needed something to compare it to. If they give me crap when I get there I will simply have them put the key in the 2004 red convertible on the show room floor and show them facts.
