Default Build a stout 350rwhp and keep it NA?

I'd like to keep the car free of turbos and superchargers.

Can we get near 350 with these motors without getting too insane?

I don't want to have to run race gas, etc.

350rwhp? If that is what you are asking, the answer is no. Most get about 270-280rwhp or about a gain of 40-50hp over stock with stock internals. If I am incorrect, someone show me before and after dyno numbers of a car that exceeds these numbers. The highest I have seen is Richards which posted about 300hp and everyone attacked him for "using an inaccurate dyno".

LS1 swap would do the trick.

I'm at 276 and am still waiting on cams, flywheel and LSD. I am hoping for 300, but may peak around 290. 350 with NA is not possible I don't think. I think 300 is the most you can hope for on a cold day with 93 octane gas and the moon's gravitational pull just right....

I disagree. I think that 350 NA is VERY possible. Would it be practicle? Probibly not. Someone mentioned Stroker... thats just the begining. High compression, and a very rev-happy (10K) may do the trick... but your talking about EXTENSIVE work and parts that are not readily available on the market.

Basically if you have enough $$$$$ and a few engineers you can reach any goal

LS1 swap. Really. It can be done on a Z32 so maybe someone can cram one into the 350. Would make for an amazing ride. Plus it would be alot cheaper to mod. That is if the purists didn't sneak into your bedroom at night and beat you to death for being a traitor.

I think 350bhp is possible, but 350rwhp is kind of out there.

Why not stuff a (chevy) 350 into the 350 and bore it out with some hot cams. That ought to put you around 350, no? You can get those crated for pretty cheap.

Not that anyone in their right mind would do something so stupid, but the LS1 would put you higher than 350, wouldn't it?

Well, if he wants to stay away from superchargers or turbo, it would be safe to assume complete engine rebuilds or engine swaps are out of the question as well....

I think you can get really close with the Esprit cams and pistons and a tuned ECU to run on a lower octane fuel. The Esprit setup will get 350 rwhp with high octane fuels. With regular pump gas you will lose some power but you should still be close to the 350 rwhp.

I don't think it's stupid. A 350Z with an LS1 would be a monster. Sure it would probably upset the weight dist. pretty badly but it should certainly haul azz.

i was thinking of NA but what i can see its cheeper to get power with FI than NA...am talking cash to Hp ratio.
parts for OK power for a NA engine ....costs abit less than a Vortech SC and u would get mor perfprmance out of the charger !

the age old debate....A nasty NA buildup is usually as expensive when it is all said and done, but nasty NA then a nice hit of spray is baddass. But just like in my situation, I would rather go blower with the ease of installation and 400rwhp easily acheivable. Well actually the old vert will be leaving soon to make way for something with a bit more potential in DD form

Current formula 1 3.0 engine is capable of 1000 HP. In the beginning of the '90s I think they had turbos on 1.5 litter engine with 1200-1600 HP or something like that. So I guess with the right amount of money it's possible .
