I feel that drifting requires alot of skill and *****. I also feel that it may be insane but in no way stupid. Sports cars are to be driven hard and pushed to the limits in my opinion. And saying something is stupid or forcing your ideas is just plain ignorant.

Man, a flame war out of nowhere!!!

Try to keep it civil folks! If everyone who chose to write poorly (or write as they speak, or however you want to look at it) got flamed for doing so, the site would have roughly twice as many posts! Sometimes you just gotta 'let it ride'. As long as the point gets across, it's good enough. I'm not saying that eboni-posts don't get on my nerves as well, but it's just the way some people choose to communicate.

MPO on drifting: Kinda neat to watch the really skilled multi-car teams do it. It's just a different form of automotive sport. Think of it like the midget (or do they call 'em Outlaw) racers with the big wings on the back that race on dirt tracks in what is basically a constant drift. Is it hard on the car, I believe so. Is it hard on tires? Heck yeah. Would I do it in my street car in an uncontrolled, public area on street tires? Probably not, but I've been known to enjoy the occasional snow filled abandoned parking lot in my time, so I can appreciate the fun of it all.

Peace!

I would imagine that one of the major components of drifting is throttle steer. While that is certainly harder in an AT equipped car, it's not impossible, especially in sport mode (or whatever it's called).

Drifting involves controlled, rapid weight transfer, throttle steering and steering/counter-steering.

You use weight transfer and throttle to get the back end loose, steering and continued weight transfer to get the back end out of line, throttle-steer to keep it there, and counter-steering to keep the car from over-rotating.

Oh yeah, and lots and lots of practice.

with the 350z you cant e-brake.. i think the best way is to faint drift or just throw it into the turn make sure the back goes out then counter steer.. this works on the rainn really good.. i aint good enough for dry yet.. and plus i dont wanna mess up my brand new tires.. haha.. by the way DNX GUYS FOR YOUR COMMENTS ! driftin is 1 of the best things you can do with a FR car.. thats the whole point i got my 350z.. i wanted a s13 with a SR20 motor cuz i heard it drifts better.. but i got my Z and im loving it.. hahaha.. if anyone from nyc and loves drifting ! holla at me ! lets go DRIFT !
