So I just hit the magic 13,600 miles on my OE rear 2003 RE040's and they are wore out. I still have lots left on the fronts (second set TSB RE040's). I really don't want ot run RE040's any more but I don't want to replace all 4 tires. Any advice on running diff tread patterns on the rear?
Thanks!
Thanks!

yeah, i have snows on the rear and toyo's on the front of my miata and it's pretty fun to slide around when it's dry out. i can feel the rears squirm around and if i lift throttle or go hard they'll step out.
in the snow, the fronts are pushing and the rears don't lose any traction.
so yes you can run different tires on the rear wheels but just be aware of grip and response differences. so if the z is understeering you might want to try harder compound tires in the rear for some real fun... just don't spin out.
