Default Transmission Shifting Problems

I have read on this board about the tranny grinding shifting in 2nd and 3rd gear, but does anybody have issues simply getting it to go into 2nd and 3rd. All other gears my trans are super smooth but 2nd and 3rd suck a big boy... Should I bring it to the dealer (Sandy Sansing Nissan) and have them check it or are they going to say that since it is not grinding the tranny is fine???

Are you forcing the stick into gear or are you gliding it?

Well dude i would hope it would just be the transmission going through the gears, if you don't feel comfortable with it...i'll take it in if i was you if it is still under factory warranty. I notice all manuals on other vechiles feel different when shifting gears

i learned about this in my Auto Mechanics Class. Take your car back to the Dealer to get it serviced. Tell them to check your tranny cause you have a feeling that your synchros are going bad which is probably why you're having a hard time getting it in gear... (the synchros are what allows you to go into gear smoothly, thats why you sometimes hear people say that the shifting feels very synchronized) I recall back in early 2000 when i had my Civic Si, i had a hard time getting in 2nd and 4th gear, turns out i recieve a recall letter in the mail from honda that they had synchro problems in the Si's and they needed to be brought in and fixed... hope this helps.

dont get your hopes up, if you cant actually get the tranny to grind for the dealer they will not replace or fix anything. I've tried before and i'm about to try again.
