I'm glad I bought this version of the Z then. 4.0L is just too much, even it is speculation. When will our smaller Japanese engines eventually reach the size of American engines, and it will defeat the purpose.

a high revving 4.0 dohc v6 would be great. im sure it would be a good increase in power for the z...i would rather see a tt or supercharged production version though

Defeat what purpose? If the engine weights the same then handling will not be compromised.

Only 315 hp? They get 300hp from the new 05 tracks...

I wonder what the torque number will be....

Japanese are suppose to have high revving smaller engines. They COULD just put a V10 in the 350Z and have it make 400hp, but then why don't you just buy a Corvette or something. That's why its cool that S2000's with only 2.2L engines can hang with a lot of bigger displacement cars.

They never said about replacing the smaller v6 block. They are just upping the liters on it, theres nothing wrong with that. You almost act as if they are taking many feature of the engine away.

Seriously dude take a step back and think of what you are saying.

the 350z has a high displacement motor compared to the s2k, and their both japanese cars so i dunno why you would think that japanese cars are supposed to have small engines. i wish i could have the power of a vette with all-motor. more displacement just means you can create more power with less boost.

I just care about reliability, performance and handling packaged in a good looking body style and sold at an affordable price. To me, that is what the Z has always been be it 2.4 liter, 3.5L, or 4.0L.

I believe in Japan there's higher taxes on cars based on the displacement, that's why they worked so hard to produce more power out of small engines whereas in the US, we just up the displacement. So for two vehicles with the same MSRP, a 4.0L would cost more out the door than the same 2.0L. It would be called a 400Z anyways.

Ok, where's that BS flag??

A 4.0 liter vq35de? He could have called it vq40de, and it would be more believable. And hopefully Nissan does not start that junk with a 350z that a typical car model such as the sentra or RSX goes through a exterior makeover every year .
