Default Why we bought the Z

I was reading a post and came across this from Low J.

great power for such a cheap car. It was a one trick pony though which is why I got the Z....I wanna take corners too
This basicly sums up why we chose to get the Z vs the EVO, STI, SRT-4...

Along with the fact that the Z has style, class, and history.

A performance-car bargain, with what some agree is the best
V-6 in the business too!

I could never get the EVO or the STi althought i wanted to. The matter was, i couldn't afford it. I got my Base model for 25,600 with 2% financing interest. Something you can NEVER get with the EVO or STi. For that price, it is DEFINATELY worth it, and i fell in love. It is also a true sports car. I could put about $6-7k more for turbo, i could end up the same price as a EVO or STi, and i would still open a can of whoop *** on them.

And people come to diss my car calling it overpriced and slow..Man there are alot of ignorant people around.

yep...my comment was specifically about the SRT-4 though. I was REALLY shopping an EVO hard too but as already stated it came down to price. The EVO was nearly $5k more than what I got my Z for so the price and performance combination of the Z won me over. If the prices were equal it would have been a much harder decision between the EVO and the Z for me because as an all around performer the EVO is just the king but you pay for that with a little less refinement and daily drivability.

Agreed... I don't know who could call this car slow, unless they've been riding around in Vipers and Z06s all day, which are both at least $15K more.

I toyed with an idea about buying STI or Evo for their WRC "heritage", until my wife reminded me how "fugly" they are, even with all the body cladding they put on to hide their origins

Glad I listened to her...

lol. Me too. My wife digs the Z's look much more than either of those. She can't stand the WRX.

The Z is the perfect combination of style and power. Factor in the price and there was really no other choice for me on the market.

For me looks are just as important as speed so WRXs and Evos were out.

I'm currently looking at buying a new Z probably next spring. I have no interest in either the Sti or Evo. Four-door turbo econoboxes really don't do it for me, even though they are fast. Besides, insurance on the Z is much cheaper.

i just wanted good performance and RWD. the SRT4 offers A LOT of bang for the buck, but its still FWD. the EVO and STi are nice, and i wouldnt mind one. but for one the insurance was hella expensive, plus im not the biggest fan of AWD.

As if I didn't know the Viper costs that much... thank you, Captain Obvious.

Most of The dealers around here ask for 90k on them. I said "AT LEAST" as I was being extremely conservative and also since the Z06 was mentioned, otherwise if I just brought up only the viper I would have said "AT LEAST $45-60K" more. Get it?

Anyways, no need to bring up something so stupid onto the thread and steer it off topic. I'm sure most people know what I meant.

^---- LOL

Seriously I purchased my Z way back in the day. When I cruise around town with my girl and point out EVO's and STI's to her she says "That thing is fast? It doesnt look fast." To which I have to say, "Yes honey it may look like a eco. family car.. but they are quick." and then she says"Well .. I like how the Z looks fast too."

Smart woman... Thats why I keep her

The car of my dreams is a C3 corvette. I've always just loved the look. I was going to find one, drop a new engine and tran in it, and burn up the streets. I figured if it was fate, then I'd see a good one turn up. After a couple months nothing did. So I went ahead and got the Z.

I still plan on the C3 one day, maybe after I sell the Z, but until then the Z was the best looks, performance, and price of anything that I saw new.

Outside from the Z's performance and killer style...

I'm 26 now and I could not see myself with a EVO or WRX in my 30's.
