Default Anyone purchased an '05 Track?

How negotiable have dealers been in terms of pricing? Also, on average, how long are they saying it will be to take delivery?

I'm looking to sell my current car ('01 Prelude) and pick up an '05 Track hopefully sometime in May. I'm just curious how the dealers are handling the pricing of '05 Track models, as other track models seem rare and highly sought after.

I believe I read that the 05 Track model won't be coming out until January or February. Right now the only similar model would be the 35th Anniversary edition. I have seen a few people on here with that one.

Yeah. Given that it's not out yet, I doubt dealers are going to be flexible at all on an 05 Track. Once it hits the showroom then you might have more wiggle room.

Since you're looking at May of 05 then you will probably be able to negotiate a bit. But there are definitely far fewer Tracks out there so it's all up to the dealer. Shop around.

Also, in general, if you wait until the end of a month you can often get a better deal. The sales people have monthly goals they try to hit, so at the ends of months you can often work them down a bit more since they're trying to hit those goals.

Its not a track model but just to give you an idea...

I ordered & purchased a 2005 Touring 6-speed with Nav for about $500 over INVOICE, here in the Bay Area, CA!

I don't think the 35th AE is released. I believe the 35th AE and Track are release at the same time-early 05(Jan). Ultra yellow is option available for all models.

That sounds pretty good. I'm hoping to get around $500 over invoice on a Performance model. After reviewing the new specs of the Track, I've decided to go with the Performance model. I'll save about $4k which will be good and I'll have more torque, which will make me happier.

Plus it should be easier to find and haggle.

some places (mostly high volume/high pressure places) don't pay salespeople salaries and they work off commission only. if you're at a dealership like that, don't even bother with the salespeople and go to someone above them who DOES get a salary. they'll have less pressure on them to sell at a high price and might be able to give you a price break.

i went to such a place to get my base model Z in february '03. (lower priced models typically have less room to bargain because higher models have profit margins in the extra options like the navi, which i'm sure the dealer didn't pay nissan 2000 for) i didn't talk to the sales people and i didn't go talk to the fleet managers. i went straight to the fleet director and i was able to get 1200 off msrp when the other dealerships around were only willing to go as low as 1500 OVER msrp.

just from my experience so take it for what it's worth. hope this helps.

EDIT: i got my Z with all the options except the aero kit so that added a little negotiation room, i guess

According to Nissan's website, the new '05 Track model will have 300hp/260tq, where as the Performance model has 287hp/274tq.

Where did I go wong?

I don't understand why Nissan cancelled NAV on the Track. That is the top model. I do hope they keep the package that is on the 35th on the touring for the next three years.

Yea. It's only available with Touring models (and anniversary I think) now. That's why I opted for an 04.5 Track instead of 05 one.

The track sacrifices peak torque, however it gains torque in the higher rpm range.

Do you have a dyno plot to prove this? I don't see how it can gain torque up top if the max torque is dropped at the same peak point as the non-track models.

I have no dyno plot, however..we know that the standard engine produces 243.1 pounds at 6200 rpms (287hpX5252/6200) and the new version produces 246.2 pounds at 6400 rpms (300hpX5252/6400). So it is making 3.1 pounds more torque even@200 rpms later.
