Hello to everyone. I need some opnions on purchasing a Z. There is a used 2003 touring model at the local honda dealership. It appears to be fully loaded except for Nav. it also has the orange leather seats. It has 26,889 miles on it. They are asking $25,995. What is a good price to shoot for on this vehicle. Thanks for any suggestions. Im looking to "REALLY" become a My350z member soon. Thanks

Check on a few things first:

Bluebook value: Link
Tire feathering on the front
Run the windows up and down several times and look for a grease streak

Suggest you have them give you the service and re-work done under warranty (if any was) before you buy. They can access the NISSAN computer based data from the VIN #. I paid 31,500 for an 04 Touring new..I would suggest no more than 24k with the mileage it has.. Good luck ..

Have the car checked out by a mechanic you trust & who has access to Nissan TSBs.

Some 03s and early 04s leave a grease streak on the window from the electric window motor. There is a TSB on it, just make sure it's covered or you have it covered before you drive it away.

Don't waste your time, there are plenty of deals out there. They want 25k with 26k miles, that's crazy. There are plenty 03's with lest than 10K miles on them, and less cost, maybe around 22K, you just have locate them. First place to look is Carmax!

I agree!

However if this is the car with the trim/color that you really want and you must want to try the dealership. I would offer $26,300 OTD (including taxes, fees, titles etc)
If they don't accept then see if they can split the difference of their best asking price and yours.

Kbb has the retail value for this vehicle and mileage at $ 30,450.

Is this dealership Honda Autopark in Cary, NC?

I just bought the EXACT same car last weekend, for 23,995. 26,165 OTD. Mine only had 17,980 miles on her. I'm in Cali. I guess it depends where you live? I know it blue booked for 28k and I am sure yours will blue book for more than they are asking.

For your information, a little less than two months ago I purchased a 2003 Touring 5AT in silverstone FULLY loaded (w/ NAV & BOSE upgrades) and paid $30,500 (w/ VA taxes & tags) out the door. The car had 15,600 miles on it.

With 2004 - 2005 touring models going for $32K with many going below $30K, I am not sure if it's worth the risk getting used one at 27K miles on it.

If they are askin $26K, it will end up costing you over $30K anyway if financed.

Personally I never buy used car, even with less depreciation factor. Unless you were paying cash, payment wise shouldn't be much different considering new cars will have better rates anyway plus full warranty.

Just my 2 cents

I agree with everyone that has said its not that great of a deal. i got a used 2003 Touring for 27 grand. But I got mine back in 2003, September, and she only had a few thousand miles on her.

CHECK THE MANUFACTURE DATE. Most of the early release and preorder Z's had most of the major problems. If the manufacture date was before 03/03 then at least confirm what items were fixed on the car. Otherwise stay away. The price is a little high IMO based on that mileage if it's a Touring. Although it's in line with Kelly.

I've had all of the major problems, and they are really not major. You can use the knowledge of the problems to get a better price since you will have to take it in for the warranty work to fix those 'major' problems.

I just picked up a 2003 touring model Fully loaded with bose/nav. it only had 1500 miles on it. this was just in oct. I had gotten it off Ebay. a dealer in north jersey had it listed on their lot for 30,000. buy it now price was 27,000. Went checked out the car before I decided to take the buy it now. Car was like brand new. even smelled new. I would consider looking somewhere else for a better deal.
