Default Buy 2004 or 2005 car?

I've been saving for an enthusiast for awhile now and might be able to get something soon. From what I can tell, there is no difference between the 2004/2005 year models (except tire pressure gauge now standard?). I know the 2004s are being discounted and the MSRP of the 2005s went up. Any reason to get a 2005 over a 2004?

Unless you get a massive discount, don't go for it because you're going to lose huge value on the car (a whole model year to be exact).

I got my 04.5 fully loaded track for 5k off MSRP about 2 weeks ago. I thought that was a good deal because the new 05 Tracks wouldn't be equipped with OEM Navigation.

Only reason I would consider it, is there probably is'nt much price diff.....At this point of the year, I would go for the '05 because of it being a whole year "newer".....It's all psychological to me.......Just an opinion, Dave

I disagree, get the '04, unless your going to keep the car less than 2 years. If it's a keeper, you'll lose nothing, and you'll gain that big discount that you'll get with the '04. You will be able to start the modding process that much earlier.

Tracks you will take a loss on because of the engine change. Otherwise there is very little (or no) difference between a 2004.5 and a 2005.

For example, a 2004.5 Touring MT is the same as the 2005, ATs had a small change to the tranny.

If you cannot get the 2% financing then go for a 2005, otherwise you can get a 2004.5 for a great deal and 2% financing. You'll save more in the end if you plan on keeping the car for the finance term vs. the loss you'll take from buying a 2004.5 vs. a 2005.

i would go 05 unless you can get a very big discount....i think in the long run you may be better off in terms of resale as well. also the 05's have a latest version of the MT, and some minor changes such as the "seat lifter", tps standard, supposedly a softer clutch, supoosedly a "harder" paint, and better chance that you won't get a car with feathering problems....jmo

My car rolled off the same line 1 month before 2005s began rolling off the same line... Nothing changed with the MT that I've ever heard of, the AT did change though.

I would go for the 05 because the problems with tire feathering and allignment might be fixed.

I'm with Lou on this one. If the price difference is more than $1.5k, I'd really advise you to get the 04. Just test drove an 05 enthusiast yesterday, and although the clutch felt different I can't claim it was noticeably better. Tranny felt about the same as my 03.

This is the question I was going to pose as well. I have a chance to get a DB Enthusiast 04 with the aero package and few other things. The sticker is 30,784 and "take 3K off" on the windshield. I told the salesman I'd give him 10K if I could get the car for 25,500 w/ 2% financing. He said come see him end of the year.........

I just picked up an '04 DB Enthusiast this weekend. Had all the options available at that trim level. Did pretty well... not $25k well but good, and got the 2% financing which on top of the already discounted price more than makes up for the model year difference.

I'd go with 2004 because I like even number year cars.

i have a hard time getting as comfortable in the 2003 enthusiast im driving, but the new seat does make it considerably more adjustable to my likings in the 2005's. Plus since there is no rebates and you technically could purchase an 05 as cheap as an 04, it is a no brainer to go 05. But what do I know

Bingo. The biggest question is how long you plan to keep the car. If it's short term, go for the newer, if you plan to keep the car say longer than 2 years, go for the "older" '04.

Good point about discount on an '04.....Are they discounting them yet? I've been reading that a lot of folks are getting quotes at, or above sticker on the '05s.....And are there many '04s left? Especially Roadsters? If the '04s are being discounted, then that's a no-brainer....Get an '04.......

Thanks for the input. I wouldn't be reselling the car so the 05 vs 04 value doesn't bother me much. I'll have to do a test drive to see if there's a difference with the MT/clutch to me. I've driven my friends 04. I start looking after x-mas to see what's left. If I can't tell a difference then I think it will come down to how much money I can save vs getting an 05 in yellow.
